I have 2 sites that somewhat overlap and rather then having to write the content twice I would like to put the same content on both and just link to the other, would this be acceptable?

Both sites will have their own 100% authentic content, there will be maybe a post or 2 that overlap

basically in this way you will give an extra push to the site that the referall is going to go to. at least try to have a good anchor text in the link for your "giving" site even if its a no-follow link

Not at all.. at least not in my case. I had a spare domain lying around so set it to auto scrape/post and made it into a 'news' kind of a site many months ago. The site ranks high along the likes of BBC and Fox news (some sites I scrape the most from) and so on (in the first page I mean). All I did was to ensure to keep the credits to the original site.

So it shouldn't be an issue.

What will be your benefit out of this, you will be promoting the original site in effect.

This is okay but this won't benefit your site in anyway I would think.

This sounds like a great idea to me because you can get LOADS of traffic to your site. It's puts relevant news content all on one page. Certain people might want broad spectrum news from BBC, NPR, CNN whatever so this enables you to target all sorts of people.

First of all, they can still file a DMCA complaint against you even if you preserve the link (I know, it happened to me for one of my autoblogs). Second, duplicate content means that you're not likely to see a huge boost from it anyway.

First off the term "Duplicate Content" is a misnomer. It's IS NOT content that is displayed on more than one site, but rather content that is displayed on YOUR site more than once. There is more than one thread on here that states this.

Secondly look at news sites. Almost all content on them are dups of the original posts. AP syndicates news articles that are picked up by many newspapers and online or TV news programs. They are used as filler to complement their original stories. That's how news is spread.

On some of my sites I use original content AND scraped content that is not spun. If there is a credit to be placed I leave that intact. So far in the past few years I have NOT noticed any problems with that content.

Just my experience with this. YMMV. :)
