I thought Cloudflare was only a CDN...

So i'm on whoishostingthis.com looking at sites I would like to look up to, I've come across a few sites that show Cloudflare as their host.

Anyone know how they did this?

They're likely routing their traffic through Cloudflare and Cloudflare routes it to the host. That would be my guess.

What bhopkins and treeofl1 said is correct. The web host's ips a user wishes to route are setup in the cloudflare panel, then cloudflare issues nameservers to use at the registrar. This shields the actual host from being shown, which is what you're failing to see.

Yeah people use cloudflare as a way for SEO Hosting. Let's say you have a reseller account of some kind and you host 10 websites there, you would have the same IP. Route them all through cloudflare, change your nameservers to the ones cloudflare gives you and BAM, new IP addresses for each domain. IMO, its not a good technique, but I've some Alex Becker fan boy recons he makes five figures a month using this exact technique. I called bullshit, but you never know with these a-holes.

It is a free CDN service, but in my opinion they are more like a DNS system or something like that.
