Is changing the niche of an aged account a bad idea?

I have a fashion account that's a three months old and at 3K followers. I want to focus it to nails or makeup tutorials. So while it's still similar niches, it's a different IG category. Is this a bad idea...should I change the niche or create a new account?

I know IG categorizes each page and uses that in its algorithm. If I refocus my niche, will this impact future health and how I get to Explore?

I switched my acc from street style to suit at 5000 followers. The acc is great now. I think if your acc was women's fashion, you should be ok.

What did you mean IG categories account? how IG category? by account name or?

Depends what category the original niche is.

If i change a child's gaming page into an adult page then the results would be detrimental.

But if its something like women's shoes to women's nails it should be fine.

IG uses pretty much everything to ID you. At first it's your content and tags, but then works in who's following you, who's commenting, relatedness, etc. It's all an algorithm and they basically get it right.

I have done this several times. I started out with fitness accounts. But it was so boring so at 5-8k followers I changed the niche to travel. I removed all pictures and redid the profile but kept the followers. All my travel accounts have an egagement between 10-20% now so it did work very good for me! The good thing is that those accounts are all aged so you can start botting/following on a higher level from start in the new niche than if you would have made a brand new account.

It works pretty well if you clean the account up first. Because then it makes it seem like "oh this dude has XX,XXX amount of followers and they just started! Let's check them out!!" Instagram is all psychological, once you figure that out the possibilities are ENDLESS!
