no. they only know your wallet address which isn't connected to any of your other details (that normal people could get a hold of anyway)

Bitcoin is not anonymous. You can use bitcoin mixer though. Monero is much better.

OP is clearly checking if people could find his IP from a BTC transfer though. Telling him to use a mixer is just incurring more cost/risk for him and is 99% likely to be unnecessary.. don't you think?
If all he cares about is not having his IP found, then a straight BTC trade will be fine, if he cares about being completely anonymous then yeah, what you said makes sense

That's totally different mate.
They can't see your IP, and they can't see your name/address etc
But they 100% can see all of the transactions that have been sent from the wallet which you use. It's publicly displayed on many different block explorers.
For example, go to blockchain.com and add your BTC wallet address to that site in the search bar. All previous tfs will show there.
Bitcoin is pseudo-anonymous, meaning your name isn't publicly connected to the account (although if you use an exchange or software wallet, then they will have your name associated with your wallets(s)), but that your activities aren't completely anonymous.
Like Nut Nights said, Monero is infinitely more private if you need that.

Same for ETH, yep.
Then depending on the crypto it might make a difference, but really it depends on what your goal is.
Want to hide the transaction, but don't care about hiding the fact that "someone" paid you in crypto:
Monero -> your wallet/exchange -> (whatever crypto you want.. btc etc) -> cash out to banking system/cash
Don't care about hiding where the transaction came from, but want to hide the fact you received crypto:
BTC -> your wallet/exchange -> localbitcoin for cash payment directly into your bank or hand
Want to hide everything to make it as obfuscated as possible:
Monero -> your Monero wallet/exchange (use an exchange with no KYC) -> change to BTC -> Bitcoin mixer -> localbitcoin account under someone elses name you purchased -> only accept cash in hand directly for BTC (private af but lose more of your money having to do this).

Everyone here got it right, Bitcoin's anonymity is relative to what you mean by anonymous.
But let's suppose you are evil and you have - say - scammed people for 1 BTC and you want to wash it.
Now obviously you are not going straight to an exchange with that address, because that's the only foolproof way to get compromised. You are g oing to use a "mixer" software which will perform a large quantity of transactions to different addresses.
Crypto exchanges won't be able to say a word, and chances are everyone in this topic are holding a slice of laundered Bitcoin in their wallets (that obviously came from 3rd party sources).
I think the same would apply for cash.

nope. There are ways to make it anonymous with paper wallets, tumblers, and private coins. It just gets very complicated
