Im currently using bit.ly to shorten all of my CPA links and from their site it looks like Im getting unique clicks but their not converting. Ive got a HIGH volume and nothing is going through on 3 different affiliate programs (approx 6k clicks and 0 signups in CJ.com / MaxBounty / Affiliate.com). Its possible that its flat out bad copy, but I wasnt sure if bit.ty gave problems to other people as well. I dont think they would be shaving right off the bat. Any help ?

I heard the did replace affiliate links with their own, but I never use them so I would never know. get your own link cloaker to be safe

I use link cloakers, I install on my servers. people like to see where they are going to. My link my say suchandsuch.com/go/affiliatesite... with those tiny bit things you have no idea where your going. Its like opening a box in the middle east, you never know what you're going to get by clicking those things...

im promoting primarily right now on twitter primarily so 140 character real estate is tight. i could always try and just buy a website w limited characters and go with a redirect but i know theres another shortening solution that isnt overly complicated

I've run into issues where bit.ly would display a big fat warning saying, "The content of this web page appears to contain spam, or links to unsolicited or undesired sites." This happens mostly with zip/email submit CPA offers. I'm sure this kind of warning would stop any visitor from filling out the forms. Other URL shortening services do the same thing. I just purchased cheap .info domains to redirect everything.

To be honest, twitter dosn't really convert very well. I don't care what people tell you or try to sell you, but most people go on twitter to socialize. Nobody says let me go on twitter and see if I can buy that new blackberry that just came out.

Twitter is mainly good to drive traffic to other social or game or entertainment sites, in my opinion.. Its hard to convert sales when 99.999% of the people there just came to socialize with their lil tweets.

Now when Twitter decides to throw up ads, then that will be a great way to convert sales, because your ad will be shown to millions and weed out the people looking to buy that certain product...

Im getting that from alot of shortening sites (ie tinyurl, etc) but never from bit.ly. Id rather have that and know to go another route than drive traffic at it and have potential commission fizzle out.

bit.ly links get crawled by hundreds of different bots and the results from your bit.ly tracking are definitely 100% skewed and not unique.

That maybe true, but in either event its free (social networks in general). Im working at it while keeping focused on autoblogs. Basically Im going to keep at it and see what happens. Its not like Im not getting targeted clicks. Im just not getting my sales. If the sales arent where its at Ill move forward or put a new spin back on ebay. Right now its low overhead and saving me the hassle of creating content using javascript and html which i have 0 experience with. Making cash while I learn from the ground up doesn't sound like a terrible plan

which would explain the high clickthrough numbers on the affiliates. considering im brand new to most of the cpas im sure theyre thrilled with 2500 clicks and 0 sales. when my numbers show up to most of these ams today i dont exactly hear the rocky theme song in the background, more like the jeffersons

2500 clicks on bitly or 2500 clicks on your network tracking platform?

If the clicks are registered on the network then they've gone through right?

I've gotten clicks on bit.ly which hasn't registered on the network, and my AM said "Are you using an URL shortener? There can be issues with 3rd party tracking services passing the affiliate cookie through to landing page, we recommend wherever possible to use the direct affiliate link."

That's what I thought, but from what I'm seeing its being crawled with that many extra clicks. Without testing another solution I can't tell if Twitter is on the crawling the sites or if its the url shortner

Based on what your AM said the url shortner route maybe a lost cause. Stuff like this is going to skew their numbers and make it look bad for business.

I'm at the point where buying the website creating a landing page and automatically redirecting is the best route. If Twitter is crawling these links I'm f'd either way

I think a lot of these redirecting services are only built to replace afflinks with their own afflinks.
