Hey guys,

I was wondering if there is anyone here who is successful from targetting different niches in gaming. I am a big gamer and also have a degree in Computer Games Technology, and think targeting gaming niches would be second nature for me. I've got a few ideas already, but my main concern is how you would make money? Gamer's are much smarter than normal browsers, they won't click adds, fill in surveys/email lists or follow affiliate links?

I am rather new to IM so any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

That saying applies to almost anything ;)

What I am asking is how do you moneitize quality content etc. as gamers are smarter than your average browser!

I am mainly interested in making gaming videos and prehaps clickbank products.

been working on a gaming site since the begining of the year. its been a flop so far though. LOTS of competition in the field.

Maybe look into making games yourself. Either web browser based or apple apps games that you can offer free, get them hooked and wack them with full version upgrades.

If you want to make gaming videos then i would choose a popular video game and play through it from start to finish videoing every step and serialize this through a Youtube channel.

Monetizing could come from the Youtube shared advertising feature or by adding a web link in your description to a clickbank strategy guide ebook sales page or a content locked hints and tips website.

Humm, good suggestion jack. I know gaming is competitive, but surely there are many niches you can target, and certain games?

I think you're overestimating how savvy gamers are, especially younger ones. I do quite well out of email submits for Blackops, BF3 etc, plus players of dumb Zynga games are a goldmine because they're idiots. However in general gaming wouldn't be my main niche because there is just so much quality competition.

I've also heard of people doing well by content locking old games, ROMs for emulators etc.

What about youtube videos? Frag movies etc? If it gets big enough people will want you to upload their vid etc?

clickbank, my first product i advertised was some multiboxing software for world of warcraft and i made quite abit in the first year but it slowly died down as i started my other projects but there is still good money to be made

I make money with gaming.
It's actually one of my worse money making campaigns...
At most... i will make $120 a day... and I have been at it for about 9 months or so.

At the present, I am taking totally different approach. But I am not too sure it will make much difference.

Gaming is a big market, but apparently I do not have a firm grasp on it.

And about what you said... that gamers are smarter... I do not think so.

They click more on the banners than the average person... but are just too broke to buy anything.

target specific games too. i do myself. some ideas you can do is content lock cheats n tips/guides etc also glitches in the game people also like. another is plug other games with cpa offers/affil links on your site aswell as targeting one game, maps and walkthrough teaser videos. they can get rest of content at your site which drives more traffic. go see what people are looking for with specific titles, rip other videos from youtube and reupload with your links.

accessories for the games ie headphones and mics and speakers etc with affil links. one example is turtle beach headsets.

there is alot you can do if you think hard lol

Some great feedback here, thanks :)

Gaming niches are very lucrative to me, it's definitely something I want to try. I read the thread about using fake game beta and content lockers and thats something I may attempt. I managed to pick up a nice domain, and got an idea for a site, no harm in trying it!

Cpaaddict hit it on the head, if you have good content they will keep coming back and yes, they do click and buy. Guide sells aren't what they use to be, but I have noticed the quality of guides has really went down over the years. I personally make pretty good money off of amazon associates, (selling games and gaming needs). Hell, I sold the complete set of Angry birds stuffed animals, from my WoW site with a mere Amazon Home page banner. The money is still there, especially if you can put out the quality and hit selling from every angle without your visitors feeling like they are being backed into a corner with so much garbage and useless ads.

Videos are great too, but its something you have to stay on, just like maintaining a constant flow of quality content. My monetized youtube accounts make decent money considering I dont use them to their full potential. And youtube has drastically lowered there standards for approving monetized accounts. Well, enough rambling from me, Good Luck, and may the force be with you!

Thanks for the input :)

I have an idea I really want to try, but need to do some more research.
