Is anyone else NOT looking forward to Apple AI?

I actually did breathe a sigh of relief when they said it most likely won’t be unrolled across Europe, only the US. I just hope that loosely includes where I am - in the UK too.

Although i’m not obsessed I do try to take great care when it comes to data privacy and I feel with some bot on steroids potentially being able to snoop on every nook and cranny of your device and plug into hardware at will, whether or not any attempt and effort toward data privacy and retention just becomes a completely futile endeveour.

I know there are laws but it will take nothing short of genius legal professionals to figure out whats what and even if they do, there’s no saying whether silicon valley are or will bend laws to their liking. They more or less own the state california after all. But the least I can say is that there’s probably something glaringly wrong if the whole of Europe wants it completely banned.

I get your concerns about data privacy. Apple AI could raise some serious issues. but tech evolves quickly, and regulations will likely catch up. keeping a close watch on privacy settings and staying informed is key. we can't stop progress, but we can stay vigilant.

Google already shoving their gemini bs into their androids
so your jump shipping for absolutely no reason

Idk what you are on about, you can't update your Iphone to not use Apple. So no you are wrong. Android gives you many options to NOT have to use this gemini shit.

The foundation of Android devices was/is Linux Kernel. AKA any android device can be used without using the stupidity of companies like Google. Cant say the same about your apple device can you.

You think you have options as an Android? lol aright
Unless your using Graphite or something then it doesn't matter, you are being forced fed with bloated shit.

What are you even talking about, theres so many options lmaooo.

If you are biased just say so but dont go around talking crap when you dont jnow anything . Clearly you have never taken a look at Open Source OS alternatives for Android.

Ok maybe should have rephrased that a bit… I mean I think technically Apple probably will give a user-facing front that will allow you to switch of the visible AI features, but how do you feel about it potentially being run in background processes which aren’t so clear ie on the phone at all was pribably a better way of putting it.

As for the android debate. I do use android too and feel it is garbage without the gms system which is proprietary google blackbox driven technology.
I think you are being a bit too suggestive about it using the Linux kernel. If simply using Linux kernel tools makes an operating system ‘Linux based’ then Windows could’ve been classed as ‘Linux based’ tok. And even if it is, then so what? Linux isn’t what it was back in the day. Big tech has hijacked Linux and is trying to shape it’s future. Some of the biggest Linux sponsors are tech conglomerates. Meanwhe most of the real GNU\Linux distros are either dead or sinking ships and a lot of the development and direction is basically the antithesis of what the fsf was even about.

As for the custom android roms. Yes they seem cool, albeit extremely unreliable except on certain hardware… namely the pixel phones. Does it not seem odd that despite all the hype about user freedom and privacy protection and so on, the best ones are apparently only able to run even sufficently on Google proprietary hardware? Which I guess brings us back to the point about Google Black boxes maybe?

I don’t think we have much choice these days. A lot of the concerns about technocracies may not be as farfeteched as people think but the okint of the post was just to query about the general thoughts and feelings about Apple AI among Apple users.

If we are going to be idealistic then greater risc-v based technology run by independants would be ideal but yeah, good luck to anyone trying to put that together

The whole AI thing that is happening will only get worse and many things we know today will lose it's point in near future.

I mean I fully agree there's no way to avoid it, even if we say we don't want it I am sure they have already found other loopholes to still enable it for us.

I don't think any of us have much of a choice with the big brothers always watching. There are some alternatives being developed but not much chance of those companies succeeding probably...

You're right, data privacy is scary! EU banning the bot is a good sign. Hopefully UK is safe too.
Use strong passwords and be careful what you share online. There are ways to protect yourself!
