I've followed Street Art for a long time and there's some great talent coming out of France recently. This is a piece by a French girl, Vinnie, who's one of my favourite artists right now. Personally, I think it's spectacular: What do you guys think? For me, if we ignore the monetary value, I'd much prefer to have a piece like this on my garden wall than a Banksy If Street Art is your thing, a couple of other French guys you should take a look at are Ludo and Levalet. And if anyone knows of any other good artists, please post some images or links.
You cant knock Banksy though. He has some inspiring stuff, although most of it isn't appropriate for a garden, as much as the pic above!
I like street art that blends in more realistically.... rather than being cartoony type stuff. Like down by my brothers house. On the wall of this building there's a man standing up with a hat who's painting the building. And half of the wall is red painted bricks while the other half looks like solid white concrete. And the mans standing with his back to you, with his hand up right in between like he's painting. Then there's a bit of crooked pavement painted into the bottom. So it looks like the pavement outside the building is part of the building itself and there's a real man just standing there on the pavement painting the wall with a green ladder to the left of him. I wish I had a picture cause it's so well done you don't actually notice it's art in the first place. I remember after it was done I must have drove by the wall 3 times without noticing it. I just remember passing the building once, thinking some dude was painting bricks. Then again on my phone and just glance at it real quick. Then the 3rd time as I was turning and looking at it I noticed the guy was flat and was like "what the fuck"? That's the type of art I like. The type you don't notice.
Don't get me wrong, I like Banksy. His work has inspired hundreds of great artists and he's done more to promote street art globally than anyone else. Personally though, I don't like the way he has mechanised and industrialised his work - he's basically running a street art production line these days. You can't blame him though, he's made a fortune out of it. There's some great work there too. I've seen several of them before as well. I recognised the 4th one straight away - he's a Belgian guy and most of his stuff is black and white. He's got a very distinctive style. I really like work that blends in with and uses the environment, which I why I like Vinnie's work so much. EDIT: BnB, I just saw your post. Next time you go past it, you should take a photo, it sounds good. I really like that type of work too. I like the idea of observing the environment and getting inspiration for a piece of art that would fit perfectly, almost surreptitiously, but also enhances the place.
I love street art. When I travel I always try to find that kind of place in every city I meet. I also saw those in Lodz in Poland
I would love to see a picture of that. @OP Im not overly keen on that particular piece of art solely because its cartoon like. But nevertheless its impressive. I cant say i am fan of street art and i cant say im not a fan. I haven't really seen any in my area nor searched online for any. Would appreciate some links to the sites you use personally to view such art.
