AS title suggest, is any one know what does it means by avg. position in google webmaster tool account?

    for example

    keyword 1- Avg. Position -300
    keyword 2- Avg. Position -170
    keyword 3- Avg. Position -1
    keyword 4- Avg. Position -4

It's the average position you achieved in that search term over the time period chosen.
Over say a 30 day period many sites go up and down a few places. Google is altering all the time, very few but the largest authority sites for the most "on the nose" terms they are relavent for - stay staic for 30 days.

So "1.4" as an average could mean that (note could - there are many ways to derive a mean average) you spent 60% of the month at number 1 and 40% of the month at number 2.
(of course it could also mean you spent 99% of the month at number 1, then for some reason, spent a fraction of the time at number 250 or something)

It's NOT chronogical though - it's based on the number of times the term you are looking at was searched for over the given period.

It is well explained on g00gl3 site.
But it is not correct for new or moved sites.
Personally, I think it's of little use.
I use awstats to see keywords used at search engines...
And really, if you read more about ranking, most experts
now say that "G" personalization and "places" localization have
really nearly done away with the idea of "ranking" a keyword.
