1 week ago I created an animal related ig account. After just 1 week of following, I have ~700 followers with a 35-40% followback rate. The engagement is insane too, I get around 10-15 comments (mostly friend tags) and around 70-100 likes + 100-200 views on videos. My other ig account is in photography niche. It has ~1500 followers and gets ~100 likes and 1-2 comments on average. The followback rate on this account is around 25%. Is such high engagement on my animal account normal for that niche or did I just happen to find a good source of high-engaging people to follow? The content for both of the accounts is HQ and quite unique.

It's that good... I sold a site a few months back called CoolPetVideos and I was getting thousands of hits per day auto posting pet vids and then dumping them out on twitter

I'm really surprised. I see a lot of potential in the animal account too. The people that comment are usually teenage girls or adult women i.e. people who are more likely to buy a tshirt or something for their pet if I ever decide to go that route.

    Yup.

Whenever someone on BHW boasts about their account, I immediately default to "That's a pet niche, isn't it?"

I like cats and dogs so I can relate to this. Pets niche is potential. Go sell some pets pillows or use your pets to Shoutouts. I notice some people promoting watches with their pets too lol

Some people will accept everything. I believe such totally unrelated promoting is not great for the long term. I've rejected several such offers not related to my account.

The pet niche is just that good, now just come up with a smart idea how to promote and monetize your account when it's big enough.

Might be time to start looking into the animal niche, among others.

Too many people go with dogs but it's far less saturated niche to go with other 2 million of animal species.

That's my experience with it too. Follow back and engagement rates are significantly higher than my travel account niche.
