    Hi....

I'm not sure if I'm wording this right, but if I was to create a tumblr blog using a private proxy, does that proxy then HAVE to be used each time I login to that tumblr account? I have 6 tumblr blogs that I created on my home IP, and my router needs to be restarted every few days. When this happens I'm given a new IP, so technically I'm not using the same IP that those blogs were created on? Am I correct in this?

Also, If I buy a tumblr blog. That blog was obviously created on another IP, so would that not fall in the same category?

This sounds pretty rudimentary I'm sure, but I'm looking to scale my tumblr blog network and am trying to wrap my head around proxy's and tumblr before I get to ahead of myself.

    Thanks!

    Hey woodspan,

I have around 100 or so tumblr blogs and they are on dynamic ips. I update only 4-5 blogs with the same ip at a time and then change my ip.

You will be temp banned if you try to access the same tumblr with a number of ips within a short period of time. Other than that you are good to go.

Also, you don't need to restart your router to get a new IP. Check whether you can save settings on router's web interface and get a new ip. I should save you a lot of time.

I have another question regarding proxy and Tumblr

I'm currently behind a proxy. I've checked three times and I know it's working correctly.

When I log into a tumblr account and go to settings, I see that the "Last Account Activity" is currently showing my home IP and city. I log out....clear all my regular and flash cookies. Log back in and sure enough the same thing happens. Home IP and city are listed.

Shouldn't the proxy be masking that information?

I'm perplexed by this as to what the solution is.

    Thanks!

What IP is shown, when you go to wtfismyip.com ? Maybe your proxies are not anonymous and are leaking your real IP.

    OP you are overthinking it.
There are millions of people that access tumblr on their phone from dozen of IP from coffee shops. Not to mention those that have dynamic IPs.
As | alien | said already, in case you login from 1 IP on multiple tumblrs in a short span of time they will restrict your access for about 2 hours. I tested it.
But feel free to test it with some dummy accounts.

    Thanks....

I probably am over thinking it a bit.

My concern was setting up dozen or more of them and then having what I thought was a safe IP end up triggering the tumblr gods and deleting what I had done.

Chances are over time some will be deleted sure.

I do appreciate the information though. Knowledge is power :)

You can't hide your real IP with a proxy.

I have 3 tumblr accounts. I login using home WiFi, work, my parents WiFi, public WiFi all that and been doing it for years with no problems. I've always done social building the straight and narrow whitehat way though, no bots, but I know they aren't ip specific.

ok so when we talking about tumblrs we mean accounts not blogs a??? coz if you have heps of blogs under one account and they delete a blog you lose all the blogs and the account????
as iam thinking of doing the same thing but in the same boat
