Is a PBN better than a 301 for high PR expired domains?

I read an article a while ago about buying and reindexing expired high PR domains with relevant keywords and then add 301's to your money page. This seems like a fast, easy, and safe method that might be better than a PBN for me.

I dont have a churn and burn site. My site six months old, almost 30,000 pages, with about 500 registered users. Google search results with my domain has a ten page rack under my homepage. I did get a slap last month but will try to recover. I don't want to screw it up anymore than the so called SEO pros have.

Has anyone tried this method out? Do you get the same juice as if using the expired domain for PBN? Do you think in my situation it would be better/safer?

PBNs are a longer term strategy. 301s are pretty much for churn and burn only if used as a "method".

With 301s you rely upon the ranking power of the domain you purchased, with PBNs you are giving your linked to domain a boost.

301s don't allow you to control the anchor text which is why a PBN will generally give you a better result in terms of ranking. And in terms of a long term strategy, building a PBN is by far the better option.
