Theyre ok for free host I guess. But they have this thing called banned word and you dont know what it is. But if they find that word in your domain, your page, its get redirected to that spammy site of theirs.

If its false positive it can be resolved easily though, but still a pain in the rear

I use byethost (free) for 2 .com, .org domains, and I never had problems with them.
    Make sure you read TOS.

I'm sorry, I don't agree. Google may have shot the host down with their own domain, but it is not important if you have your own domain.

As for the whole IP banning myth: I have gotten free and premium shared hosting to rank in SERPs before, and I'm sure there's a 99% chance that someone else using the same IP has been spanked off the SERPs by Google. Google understands the concept of shared hosting. The only thing that could possible get you banned because of the host would be linking to another website with the same IP that gets slapped. You could be mistaken as part of their link farm, but the chances are unlikely since they probably wont be linking back to you and your website will be totally different.

On that note, building a big network of Autoblogs linking together under the same IP (shared host server) is not ideal since if one gets banned, they all get banned. If you're going to use a shared host, just SEO each one individually. It doesn't take much effort with blogs.

No, they werent banned, some of their free reseler was putting their adsense code on users site, while some users were also had their own adsense code there which in effect making some of the sites having two publisher ID at the same time.

If you go stright to Byet and not use one of their reseller then it should be ok.

Autoblog is ok too, except I think they'll suspend you autoblog or otherwise when you have some 500 uv perday

i wont suggest you to use a free hosting, but i think the most important thing in seo is still the domain. A good paid domain can get accepted easily
But again, if you have a lot of contents, its better to have your own hosting
