Is 12USD per 1,000 words expensive?

I have a writer here( from the marketplace) who charges me $7 per 1000 words and I am happy with all the articles he produces. I also had a writer here(from the marketplace) whom i paid over $20 for 1000 words. Both have money site quality and informative. So my point really is even if it is below 10 dollars or as high as 30 bucks, as long as you are happy with the output, then go for it. Test out their skills and go with the writer who produces quality article in a reasonable price.

I choose the 7 bucks per 1000 words article provider. :)

It's the reasonable market price especially if you are happy because it's difficult to find good people. Obviously, it's expensive if ROI gonna be less.

So I'm a new copywriter. Just wrote one article for a client for $15. Then he wanted a test article, and 10 articles for $100. I thought that would look great on my portfolio vs. no jobs at all. I warned him I was unfamiliar with the niche and would have to research: he was fine with this. As I'm researching and writing I lose all motivation. I did deliver in the end and I'm awaiting his feedback, but it was not my best work. I just felt kind of insulted by him and his "high quality work" he needed. He even made me feel like I was lucky to have the job as there were people from buttfuck nowhere who would do it for half the price. Maybe I'm expecting too much out of this gig at my junior level, but how can you expect high quality work at that price?

I don't even know what high quality means anymore . High quality to me is not most of the content on the internet. High quality is magazine level (including lots of research) which is worth more right ?

In my experience it mostly depends on required quality of your content. Most of my pages require high quality content and independant research of the writer, therefore prices I pay for range between 10-15$/ 1k Words. Also, I found difference between b2b and b2c content to be the major determinator of calculating costs for articles. Then again, depends on your niche, platform you are promoting on, expectations and buying intent of your target group, stage of customer journey, how much additional time you are willing to put into detailed briefings, keyword research etc.

All the best
