Just a quick annoying observation about the Siri feature on the iPhone4s. Some of the elder members on this website remember back in the 95ish - 2000 time frame of the fun IRC days. You know the eggdrop, BitchX, mIRC scripting days when we made cool bots that would respond to commands? Like the scripts that would actually play music on command with the AI feature and it could answer questions. Hell... like the bot in the BHW chatroom.

With all of Apple's "innovations" (opps, I mean the technology they take from companies they purchase), wouldn't you think they could at least put in a technology that isn't 1995 based?

This is a good example of why technology in business has fizzled in the last 10 years.

    Ok.... [/rant]

Have you actually used it? I upgraded from a 4 to a 4s and Siri is amazing. I'm using it right now in fact! I can speak multiple paragraphs and it knows exactly what I say each time.

Isn't that kinda like saying the calculator was a rehash of the abacus?!

It's an improvement on an old idea, much like every movie or song that get's released these days. Almost everything is rehashed, it's just how well it is done...

And I'm not even an Apple fanboy.

I just love while Apple claims Siri is a massive advance for the iphone, developers created an alpha version for Android, Iris, in 8 hours. Nowhere near as good, but it's free...

Being completely integrated into the OS and capable of using all of apples core apps for you is what completely blasts siri into a new level.

Sure it's not groundbreaking new technology but it's application and integration are.

The only reason it bugs me is because now i get to listen to a bunch of assholes around me talk into their phone about shallow, superficial unimportant stuff.

apple products are for people that cant make good decisions on there own. Thats why everything is so locked down. It's built for people that lack good judgment. you know the people thats always complaining about windows getting viruses and malware (stop downloading pirated software jackass, and falling for those emails that say "you won a million dollars click here"). Anyhow apple makes great products, but dont expect to be able to use it how you want to use it, you can only use it how they say you can use it. Yeah androids have accurate voice to text already. Siri is nothing ground breaking.

I don't mean to be offensive, but your post is ignorant. I use macs because it just works. I restart once a month, I don't have a virus scan, I don't have to uninstall anything, edit the registry, or figure out drivers and compatibility. It just works.

I used PCs all my life and moving to a Mac has been a great decision.

dont get me wrong apple products are great, i have used a macbook for a couple months, it was nice, smooth and fast but, i ended up using the windows 7 VM on it more than anything because there are no BH tools made for mac, so i just got rid of it, built a powerhouse win 7 PC (i dont run antivirus on it btw) and picked up a netbook that i run linux (ubuntu) on. but hey to each his own, however IMO apple products have a dumbed down feel to them with the GUI.

Macs dont get viruses not because they are more secure, but because they are the minority by a large margin, so the assholes that write viruses and malware dont bother.

Apple didn't invent smartphone either. Where they are good is on making geek stuff consumer friendly, and if not friendly always, then just desirable. Behold the days, when BH comes desirable and consumer friendly

Pretty sure you can date anything in our lives right now back to a prior date and label it "recreated".
