I am looking into investing some cash and was wondering what ppl here are doing with their profits?

I am considering purchasing some servers and possibly trying to set up a hosting company. I have had to register a business and want to come up with some ideas for where I could spend to reduce tax / make more cash. This would be with the hope of breaking even for the tax year then recouping $xxx or $x,xxx per month return. Then keep reinvesting to try and create a passive-ish income. Or invest in buying / building a lot of sites if this is too technical. (I understand companies can help you set up / look after your servers). Only prob could be a lot of tech emails?

I suppose hosting isnt easy and quite technical. Also its got so cheap! I may just have to buy a car, software licenses etc.? Better than paying tax.

Thought it would be interesting what other ppl are doing. I am considering offshore etc. but probably not worth it this year. Please no PMs trying to sell me stuff lol...

I also saw some impressive returns from well known investment companies. Sure there are some great stories from members off this board ;)

    :)

    Thanks for the advice.

I was thinking more about a legit business. Then later I might start reinvesting in stuff like this, then if it goes wrong who cares I have legit incomes to fall back on. The reason being I would like a stable income. Ideally passive / mostly passive. Also would prefer to work hard on setting something up that will work long term, not getting banned from CPAs etc.

EDIT: Software looks sick thanks for that! How the hell have I been here for so long and not looked at it sooner?

    :)

I am looking for smart places to put my money I can right off as business expenses e.g. computer hardware / software licenses are ideal.

Amount probably $1000 - $5000 depending on opportunity ideally I would prefer to reinvest smaller amounts monthly.

Basically I would be happy if I could put money into buying servers and setting up hosting although, hosting prices seem to be getting cheaper and more competitive.

TBH I am exploring what to do to give me the lowest tax bill poss and set up a recurring income. I am also very interested in what other ppl on this board are doing out of curiosity as much as anything else, the amount of cash generated by ppl here combined must be staggering. My interests are music / IT and I am interested in anything legitimate web design co., hosting etc.

My skills are web design / SEO although I am not super experienced. I am a freelance IT Manager by trade atm.

    :)

Eat out a lot with friends, call yourself an IM consultant and use it as tax deductions. That's about the extent of what i do :(

PS - I also have moved a lot of my business to paypal accounts that don't use my SSN so I don't pay much taxes these days.

You have to invest. This business is up and down and your method or product could become saturated or outdated. This is why lots of people start small side businesses to take care of their 'salary' or day to day expenses until a big payday comes up and they can buy a toy or increase their 'salary'. Can't do this forever and if you aren't paying tax then your social security is looking pretty slim if you're lucky enough to have it there when you would qualify...
