Hi, I'm planning to create authority website (from a scratch) in a niche which I know something about. That said, I'm still planning to outsource content because I don't like writing :) I have around 1000 dollars per month to spend in IM, and was wondering if it could be good option to spend it on awesome content to create the said authority website?

I had success (both visitors and good profit) before in the same niche but those times had rather garbage content. Thus the success didn't last long, Google put a penalty to my money site after some months. This time I'd like to make a website with excellent content, update it every day and perhaps become authority in the niche. I know this can be achieved with great content, but my concern is whether it's too much to spend grand a month for the content? I'd of course market the website through white hat SEO channels, but the content expenses here is what bothers me. Thanks for reading so far and please share your thoughts on this :)

Do you really need to spend $1000 a month just for outsourcing content for your website? Why don't you spend it on other thing such as social media marketing? I mean, $1000 is really huge, if you are going to spend it on articles alone, especially if you do not think that you would be able to use all of them in a month.

Yep I'd go for half on content and half on promoting the site. Figure out the content that is going to give you most value and start with that - ie. content that will be shareable, is evergreen, will drive sign ups to your email list or whatever it is that you want to achieve. You'll see traction alot quicker if you can put some money into promoting all that content you have on your site.

What everyone else has said, spend half that on content. At least get a proof on concept before you spend $6 000 on content to find out that no one cares. Also, make sure you buy high quality content, rather than quantity. People are becoming very selective of what they share on social media because, depending on you're footprint you'll see up to 20 000 calls to action every day.

One last thing, generate content with social media in mind. http://www.forbes.com/sites/jeffbercovici/2014/07/17/nailed-it-buzzfeed-cracks-the-pinterest-code/
