invalid login attempts

I'm stuck with a problem.

For some reason, some of my accounts, when I log into them, tell em that I have exceeded the number of invalid login attempts allowed for that account.

Then they ask me to verify my email so as to reset my password.

So I verify my email and reset my password.

When I try to login again with the new password, I get the same message with the number of invalid login attempts.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could fix this problem?
