I've been noticing that there is a lot of new people joining blackhatworld. And along with all these new people, I'm not sure that the basics of small business is being thought of when they get into Internet marketing. Like when you own and operate a small business, and that is what Internet marketing is, you have to ask yourself questions like how to fund these projects, what can I do to protect my intellectual properties, and how to I began to prepare for retirement. These are just basic first questions you ask yourself when you get into working for yourself.

Now successful entrepreneurs all have one thing in common; they all had a plan. Now a lot of the new guys I'm seeing on here have no direction. You guys need to set goals and achieve them. They don't have to be big, they just have to be a goal for you to achieve. Now if we get this thread going more, we will talk about more of the achievements you need to get to and advice on how to get there as I write more about this.

Now remember nothing occurs in a vacuum, so you have to get started somewhere. You need to ask yourself some basic questions, like what is the time limit on my project or goal? This can vary depending on the size of your project. What will be your measure of success? Now figure out what your achievement will be. Will it be how many people go to your site? Will it be how good my site looks? It all depends on what your niche is. Have you made certain your objective is broad enough to include all aspects of your business? Now this is kind of a question that only you, as the reader, would be able to answer because businesses can take on so many different aspects. And enhances the dreamy question will question every body needs acid cells but doesn't really want to tell anybody. What picture comes to mind when you see your objective, what you've written down, or the answers to the questions that I posed, And then the question that everybody seems to miss when they're new, is how do you think you're goign to complete your objective? Are you in a read all the information that is smeared all over this forum or are you going to take action before you're ready?

That is pretty much what the thread is about, being ready to take action.

One way to check whether you thought rationally about your company objective is to think through the resources that you bring to the table. You also ask yourself if you have sufficient resources to accomplish the objective you have defined. If you do not, it is probably a good idea to redefine your company objectives until you have sufficient resources at hand to accomplish the goal. So I guess you need to take stock of what resources you have right now, that will help you accomplish your objectives.

Now this is advice for anybody that is new and still may be good advice for anybody who has been doing this for a while. Just to keep remembering to get the fundamentals down of what it means to have a small business.

It's Internet marketing, it's a business like any other business that has a storefront, you're trying to get people's attention, but without the right tools and setting goals, you're more likely to fail than you are to succeed. I would like to hear what the new guys think of this advice and even would like to hear from the older members and see if I'd missed anything or if this is the method they used to become successful in the Internet marketing world.

Damn man, that's a really nice post. I agree with you.. first you should set up small goals for yourself and later when everything grows you can create bigger goals for yourself to complete.

When I started doing IM I just thought that everything comes easily, but no.. no it's not coming easily. You have to work hard. And since I have written down goals for myself I have succeeded so well.. everything goes exactly how I want.

I started with small goals too and when I reached it, I made some new goals.. Pen and paper are your friends not some stupid things where you can draw penises or some other weird things.. I would suggest people to write down their ideas.. just a big brainblast and then start working.. if you complete all those ideas, turn a new page and start brainblasting again.. this is how you succeed.

Learning to think like a business owner and entrepreneur are some of the biggest aspects in beginning to make money in the IM world. I did the same when I first started, I was just trying everything in the wind at once. Taking the small bits that were spoon fed to me and trying to make money fast. This is defiantly not the way to go at it. I learned patience and goals are necessary to achieve even the smallest tasks involved in a bigger picture.
I now have a SEO service I run that makes me some decent money.

here's a simple test, have you ever used an automated teller machine? Well of course you have. Have you ever ordered theater or movie tickets using an automated phone system? Have you ever signed your name on a handheld computer to accept delivery of a package? Well and the list goes on and on and on. But the answer is yes to all those questions and that means you participated in e commerce. Would you like to know how your organization can benefit the most from electronic commerce would you like to know how your customers can benefit from your electronic business initiatives? No were going to talk about things that will help your strategies work for you. The things that you really want are to increase customer loyalty, increase profitability, and decreased labor time into your product. It also want to reach your customers in the most cost-effective way, reduce your costs per transaction, reduce your customer service costs and reduced customer service time. Now you can do this a lot of ways online and off-line but if you don't think approaching this like a business is important in please get off and find a job. That may sound harsh but if you cannot work this like a business then you are here wasting everybody's time including your own.
