    Hi Guys!

This is my first thread here on BHW. I have been here on a daily basis for a while but never really been active.

I made this thread because I would be interested in your opinion concerning a new tax that the government of my lovely country (Hungary) wants to accept mid-November.

We simply call it Internet Tax and if you want to get to know what it is exactly just use our "friend", Google, because obviously I can't post links :)

As far as I know we would be the first country taxing internet traffic but tell me if I'm wrong. Honestly, I'm absolutely against the whole idea but I know people who support it. After reading the article you may think it's not a big amount (even taking into account the low salaries here) but still, I simply don't like the idea.

I would be interested in what your views are on it. Thanks for any comments.

There's a desire to control the WWW because it used to be a libre space where you could post ideas. And governments don't like people with ideas that they can't control.

Right now either Google will destroy you if you post anything out of the ordinary (for any reason they wish), or comcast and friends will slow you down, or some DMCA gorilla will smack you...there's no escaping it, the WWW is becoming AOL. (Remember all these companies are in close collaboration with governments....)

Ahh sorry, I didn't know there was already a thread about it. As you can see from my post count I mostly search before ask or post anything. Anyway I've just got home from the demonstration in the capital of around 30 thousand people. We will see what is going to happen. Thanks for your comments anyway :)

And as written in the other thread western media really hypes everything up that happens here lately. They have good reasons for it though.

I was just interested in your opinion forgetting any political feelings, what you think about it. There are people who think tax on the internet may lead to development of it because companies will invest to make it more effective to pay less. Others say it would be as normal as taxing phone calls etc.
    I
am personally against it but I like hearing the voice of all sides :)

AOL? Worst fucking company ever. I remember the days when people used AOL as their ISP provider in the UK.

In america the country that hates freedom the government confiscates all your money if you deposit cash under 10,000. The problem with internet tax is that hte world is becoming like america hating freedom and wanting to steal from the few who make money and give to the parasites who rule you (government). The solution is freedom but most of you people hate freedom.

Totally false, if the deposits equal $10,000 or more a year a person must file Form 8300 with the IRS, the problem was that people were not told about it from the Banks. The Government doesn't confiscate money just for it being under $10,000 a deposit.

And taxing the internet is no different than taxing landline phones and mobile phones its not about hating freedom.
