Internet and censorship by the Federal Government

Could we pretty please discuss the new bills that are coming up the pipelines that will be censoring the internet and will affect our lives and liberties? A huge storm is brewing and if we don't rally the troops your livelyhoods could be severely affected.

what bill are you talking about? I heard about one in Canada that will let ISPs go into your computer, install spyware and and delete files without your permission/knowledge. Are there any others?

I was going to write a very long response to this, but im going to lay it out simple for you: Its because of people with mentalities like yours, that government passes things like the patriot act, and this new "net neutrality" bill, with the least of effort. You show any lack of concern for your future and well being by making statements like those. When your kids are being put in juvenile detention for watching copyrighted material or downloading a song 15 years down the line, or copy/pasting something from the internet, you will probably have a different mentality. If you dont want to put down the effort to research something that will affect you now and in the future in terms of taking away some of your rights, you might as well give them all away now.

As far as I know we are not allowed to discuss any politics EVEN if it is about a bill that directly affects our livelyhood.

I was asking permission to discuss this issue (as long as it doesn't get hijacked)

I am a member of CFL too and donate to Ron Paul

I'm hoping someone will let us know.... If we sit on our hands and do nothing then we deserve everything we get!

I've read those links, and I don't understand what this is all about at all.

I know big corps. rarely have the little peoples interests at heart. I see a lot of generalities, but no specifics. How will this affect us?

Erm, I didn't express an opinion at all.

For what it is worth I have been following the 'net neutrality deal for a good few years. I understand what 'net neutrality is. What I don't understand is how it will affect IM.
