Are sitcoms really funny? Or are you simply laughing along with the audience? As an experiment someone killed the laugh track on an ep of "Full House" and played it as-is.

Notice how all of the conversations sound rude, sarcastic, and weird?
(check out some of the other no-laff sitcoms in the 'related videos' category, like 'Friends' sans the laughter)

well Full House certainly isn't funny, we've known that for years.
pretty interesting stuff though, kinda like garfield minus garfield except a lot less funnier :)

    fuck me that was weird

interesting how the actors have learned to pause and wait after saying their lines.

experiments have been done that show that people actually do think something is funnier if other people around them are laughing, and if they are forced to smile while watching

what i noticed is how the conversations are actually rude and ill-mannered sounding. i'm wondering if people pick up those mannerisms on a sub-conscious level and repeat them in their daily life without realizing it.

it's also interesting to see/hear how unfunny the jokes are without laughter added.
