My wife's site which was grown organically has been in the top 3 for the past 10 months or so for about 12 different high profile LOCAL keywords. She runs a business locally. I purposely did not do any seo backlinking but instead let this site grow naturally so as to avoid any beatdown in the SERPS.

Flash forward to yesterday and the damn thing dropped to page 6. Ok, so it got hit for some unknown reason, but the interesting thing is that it owns ALL of page 6! Every url on page 6 is a different page from the website.

Crazy. But I figured I'd pass this on as an observation. Hoping this things shakes out soon and the algo readjusts.

Interesting observation. At first, Penguin 2.1 hit all of my sites hard, but now they are naturally recovering. This may just be a process where the Google servers leave the front page open, then try to index sites on the front page that are relevant.

If it stays on page 6 will you start to grow it unnaturally? It would be interesting to see if blasting it with social media bookmarks would improve it's page rank.

I wouldn't do anything out of the norm. Keep up any social promotion as you have, let it +/- naturally. If it was previously socially exchanged, keep doing what you were.

Don't stop and all of a sudden step it up. That's the worst thing that any of us can do. Keep doing what you were doing without hoping for "Google Privileges".

Even without G.A. scripting on pages they can still at the very least track click-throughs from their redirect SERP's.

Don't play the victim, don't empower them any further by doing anything out of the norm. Either stop link building, or continue on as average. Either way utilize them while they try to stay on top.

Yep, i'll just continue on with natural social media sharing (which it does anyways by itself..it's focus is pet services). I just find it funny that it basically owns all the links on page 6 for Google. I'm hoping it shakes out as per the norm, but you never know. Traffic is done, obviously, through Google today, but that's to be expected.
