Interesting like and subcribe method

Hello guys,

i'm about to start another YT channel and I was just lurking around on Youtube for some new methods. I found one channel with compilations from subreddits and I was shocked when I saw 5 sec screen saying "LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE RIGHT NOW OR YOU WILL HAVE BAD LUCK FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS" and there is 5 sec countdown. They put this screen in every video in first 30 seconds so everybody can see it. I mean this seems like a bullshit but there is a lot of people believing this and I think they might like just to be sure they won't have bad luck lol.

My question is - Do you think this is good strategy? I mean they have good views and like/dislike ratio. I want to start serious channel and build community don't you think this could upset people instead of getting their attention? I think this might be used only for specific type of videos like this.

this sounds nice for very specific niches/audiences. but if you want to start something serious on non spiritual niches, it doesn't make much sense. maybe as a parody/inside joke?

Agree with FriendlyPufferfish.

I think this is a negative user experience, unless of course the channel is about esotericism. If the plans are to create a healthy strong community and plan to develop it, it seems to me not a good idea, but again it all depends on the content. And from the audience you plan to collect.

just upload videos that viewers will like that's it, everything will increase automatically

This is kind of negative marketing, some will subscribe out of fear, but after few days they will mostly unsubscribe. Also you will get lots of dislikes even if the video is good. So it wont be a good idea for main channel

That was cringe. If I would watch this and see that BS, I would immediately close the video and never watch that channel again. So I don't think this will work in the long run. Even if you will gain subscribers that way, not sure that they will be active ones.
