I'm looking to learn more about web design. I've learned some basics, but I was wondering if anyone had any advice on where to start? What would be most valuable for me to learn first? Javascript, wordpress etc. I have looked at some places that teach basics for free on the internet, has anyone checked these out and are they worth it? Any information would be great!

It depends on what you want to do and how far you want to take it but if you wanted to learn more you could learn:
Design theory - what makes a good website
Conversion optimization
Color schemes
Learn Photoshop or Gimp
Coding that can come in handy:
HTML/CSS is a must
PHP if you want to do Wordpress
The list goes on but that's a good start.

Firstly, if you do not know HTML/CSS and how inline css works then you need to study that. Secondly, you should shoot for Javascript/PHP. Both of those work well within wordpress (php and mysql is what it is built off of). CodeAcademy.com will help you. You can also try these tutorials that I found
