As some of you know the new instagram update has the "see more" - it's been a while surprised I have yet to see a thread, maybe I'm blind if so I may be.

This affects people doing long shoutouts, but also good for hashtags as some parts will be hidden.

Let's collect ideas

Beginning to restrict post visibility. Makes you wonder where IG is heading

true but i think the bots still fetch the hashtags, etc. in the end i think it is something good. Instagram was never about the text but about the images....

well, now the first line has to be something which catches your attention, not bad at all ;)

Just Facebook being Facebook. Since they bought IG it's clear where they're going with it.

I mentioned that in some other post, we MUST look at IG as FB, and treat it the same. Nothing IG does shouldn't shock anyone, expect it and be prepared, cause its def coming!

I made a thread some days ago. No replay..
Any ideas how to make the best out of it?

It stops spam I guess, as some profiles post long asss shoutouts.
Makes sense, just use your words well I guess.

Agreed, they just want to give page owners less visibility. So they can make them pay for ads.

Very different platform though as Instagram is picture based, so for the people on Instagram (that are not brands/ niche pages) and are showing pictures to their friends you wonder how they will minimize reach without making people frustrated that their friends don't see all their uploads.

Instagram's main USP is a forum to share photos amongst friends, so they risk major downside if they make the same changed they did to Facebook's algorithm.

Scary.. Invested a lot of money into IG. Think we're probably a good year out from seeing a significant engagement drop but still..

ReflexSocial came out today. Supposed to be the next big thing

Time to start making new social networks, as zuckerbooger will run all the current ones into the ground. If a giant like MySpace could fall, why can't FB and friends?

Actually, they even have the same domain block-list.

So if your domain gets blocked on IG, you can't use it on FB.

Wait until they start cutting your reach....if they haven't already.

They will have to act different to FB,

Cutting reach to 4% or whatever FB is currently on Instagram would be insane.

For the mass market of regular user on Instagram having their post shown to 4 out of every 100 would be a massive loss in engagement also!

WOW.. How do you know this?
As Sythix said, my domains always got blacklisted when I tried to promote it on Facebook. Facebook crawlers seem to be way better though (when I did that) while Instagram I could easily get away with by redirecting US visitors to another website or just not do anything at all - it seemed to work. :)

Why is everybody worrying? By the time they do something (if they do something) you should all have large enough accounts to be able to sustain yourselves anyway. Your followers will still see your regular posts. I'd only be worrying if I found out about how to profit from IG a week before they changed it for the worse.

What is ReflexSocial?

FB, Google and other big dogs are not interested in 'regular users'. They all want us to pay through the nose for using their platforms. I expect IG will eventually become a clone of FB.

I don't understand what you guys mean by reduced visibility on Instagram? Instagram doesn't have an algorithm that determines what is most interesting and displaying on top of your feed. It just shows the latest content by time.

Also Instagram users behave differently in that its easy for them to unfollow accounts they don't find interesting so engagement will remain stable. Whereas people will like almost any page on Facebook. The mistake Facebook made was pushing people to like lots of pages in order to determine peoples interest which allowed advertisers to have very specific targeting.
