    Hey folks.

So, here's the deal. I am gonna open up a new IG account in the fitness niche. Grow it by hand, by using Crowdfire and maybe trying out the 3 day Instagress trial to a size of about 2k followers. At that point I am going to give away shoutouts in the way that people will send me their fitness-related pics which I will then post and link them. This should give me a nice stream of free content and also it will increase follower engagement. When the account has reached a certain size, I will start selling the shoutouts.

I am still thinking about where to get the starting content from. How strict is instagram with its copyright-guidelines? Could I just leak some fitnessmodel pics from the internet and publish them? Any other ideas for starting content?

If you got any hints or tips just post them, I will keep you updated anyways.

No specific goals so far because I do not know how fast I can get things to roll, the first 2-3k followers will probably be the hardest.

    Cheers.

Any information on what exactly you mean? Too many competitors?

    Hey

Hopefully, I can be of some help to you and your journey. First of all, I wish you all the luck on your journey to establishing a successful Instagram account.

What I can say from my experience is that I really do not recommend taking content from other people on Instagram. That is against Instagram TOS and if you are serious about building a true Instagram account that will make you money in the long run, you will need to avoid taking photos from other people.

When it comes to taking photos from other sources, make sure you have a permission from its owner (if there is one). If you do not have permission, you are also risking to get caught and reported which could damage your account. However, you can use photos that are free, in other words, those photos that do not have the owner (plenty of those over the Internet). You can also buy photos at very cheap prices at different stock sites, and become owner of few of the photos yourself. I am also quite sure that there is a method on BHW that explains how to get all the photos from stock sites for free (it is a bit of black hat, but it would be of great use if you do not have money to invest).

My advice is to invest time and work into developing some graphic design skills, learning to use Photoshop (if you do not know) and edit and create your own photos. People on Instagram usually love quotes, especially based around fitness. If I were in your shoes, I would use good photos combined with some quotes and that would be at least 60% of my content on my Instagram account.

When it comes to your idea about selling shoutouts, I am quite convinced that you are wrong here. There are lot of people selling shoutouts nowadays, and your account with 2k followers is too small. Unfortunately, you won't sell to many (if any) until you grow your account a little bit more.

You also need to keep in mind that shoutouts should represent only about 10% of your content on Instagram (if you are serious about building a true Instagram account). People are not huge fans of shoutouts if haven't heard, they will just unfollow you if you do not post some exciting photos as well.

Also, 3 day instagress trial won't be enough. Trial versions are only for trial, they are not meant to do all the needed work in first 3 days. If you do not have money to buy the pro version, try to grow your account naturally. It will take more time, of course, but that's usually how IM works if you do not have money to invest. Anyhow, make sure you read about follow/unfollow limits (plenty of quality information in journey threads on BHW) so you do not get banned easily.

My two cents! Hope I helped. :)

Cheers freelance. I am gonna see what I can do about the pictures, great idea with the quotes! About the shoutouts: I said I am going to give away shoutouts at roughly 2k followers to help with content generation. Gonna sell them somewhen later when I actually have more followers.
By the way, what do you mean with "photos that do not have the owner (plenty of those over the Internet)"?

I'll keep you posted, thanks a lot for your time so far!

The fitness niche is an extremely established niche with too many accounts, which leads to a highly competitive race to gain followers for small accounts.

Those are the photos that are free to use, you can not get sued for copyright infringement as they do not have the rightful owner.
