Instagram Gurus: Co-workers obsessed with being "influencers", I want to beat them out! HELP!

Ok seriously, my co-workers are obsessed with instagram and becoming "influencers", taking the typical influencer type pictures.

I do not care about being an influencer. However, I would like to "beat them out". One of my bosses and I were talking and laughing about it how it would make them have a meltdown if someone else in the office suddenly popped up and got more followers likes etc that they have placed so much value on.

This is a serious post because it has dropped productivity with people posing for pictures outside of work, while doing their work, while anything.

Any suggestions? If I suddenly start an instagram of me with more followers they would freak out. They may even give it up. It would bring many laughs to us in the office that really are sick of this silliness. It has become an embarrassment for many of us that area really doing work. I don't plan on selling a single thing.

If you want I can post on my story your profile. But if I write exact as you explained it follow back would be way higher. At least I think. I got 39k page

I mean you could just make a few posts and buy followers and some likes from the marketplace to make it look like you know what you're doing and then just say SURPRISE!

Otherwise you're on the long hard road that most people are on. 'Becoming' an influencer has to be treated like a business and full time job. That's what tricks people into trying to become influencers. 90% of the real influencers have money and strategy behind them.

I have a 29k page but it isn't a "personal" page. For real though, productivity has dropped in the office big time and many of the serious workers are forced to pick up the slack and are sick of it.

What can a guy do that will have a big account but now have one of those jerky accounts. I am not an attention whore and dont care about being instagram famous. I see them using work time with that Lightroom editing pics all day. Between taking the "perfect" picture and the Lightroom editing on work time.

That is true. One girl is analyzing her analytics with excel sheets of following and not.

I have an old 29k page no Jarvee used and dont wanna transform it into a personal page. All real followers but still transforming to a personal page would ruin it.

Been out of instagram since the action bans etc.

I see what they do, they all like and re-share stories over and over in a team, sort of like the Instagram Like Groups we had about 4 years ago.

We have an old close to retirement age woman in the office. I asked would she be on board if we made her the "Office Influencer". She laughed and said she would play along because she doesn't understand all this instagram stuff.

The engagement groups all became a mess because Instagram now 'weights' the algorithmic value of a like based on how frequently users like.

A lot of the influencers now have really small groups where they like each others content to make sure they don't lower the 'value' of their likes.

Unfortunately I do not fully understand the new algorithm. I was going to try to ramp up this 29k page I got. I didnt know your likes become devalued.

One person I know had a page with lot of followers his engagement sucks. He said the algorithm wants him to talk to each commenter, respond to every message he gets, like each post etc. he said I cant do that.

It's not your job to get them back to work

and you joining in won't make it any better
Let them at it. It's up to the boss to put a stop to it.

Though I think secretly you want to be an Insta influencer
And you're here on BHW long enough to know
You either do the work. or pay others

Yes. Do literally anything other than this.

Who cares if your coworkers want to become influencers. If they're being unproductive at a day job they're being paid for and you're being unproductive doing this in your own time you're not beating anyone but yourself.

If they refuse to work, have them fired.

Aside from my point of view of why would you that ( knowing that u said its about productivity ) i will try go straight to some ideas.

The bad ones:

Buy a page make it personal and there you have few thousand with out using your 29k one.
Buy followers likes for your page and you will be banned very quickly.
Buy followers to your competitors see how they get happy and laught about it, but their account would be banned maybe and they will be not happy about you.

The one that could have some success:

buying one or starting from zero, try to take pictures of your workers in an attitude that is not that fancy. maybe in the toilet or doing just some work or sleeping... well or just troll them and take a video about that.

Then when you have ready some videos and pictures you start publishing and following their likers so they will see the dark side of that account person , it could become funny and will engage with their audience making you grow quickly with just their followers.
Make fun of them , or whatever you think could engage with people ,memes etc of them .

If your coworkers feel is funny will repost you and make you grow faster as if were in an engagement group, so u use their army for your profit.

Hope it helps, to day instagram is very picky so avoid tools use ur own phone and 4g data.

I was just about to offer you a free shout out on my IG account.

It has 18 followers so you would get some nice recognition and perhaps pick up a new follower or two.

This is an interesting hobby for your colleagues. Besides, growing an honest audience is not as easy as it seems. Instead of ridicule, you better support your colleagues.
