    Starting a web design/seo company;

I haven't had any luck with inmotion hosting, the connection is painfully slow on the reseller's package. They keep telling me its the theme but I highly doubt that, with the the theme selling over 330k copies.

I tried AWS for a bit but don't really feel like paying for WHM and cPanel, at least while starting and the funds being tight.

I tired godaddy and what a joke that was.

Now im between going back to AWS or Digital Ocean, I recently discovered plesk and might try that as the admin panel to cut down on the price a bit more.

Any thoughts, or tips on this hosting ordeal?

for me DO is ok.. just use nginx, php, mariadb to build your website
if you want more, use cdn also...

What other specs are you needing for your reseller account?

    You said whm/cpanel
How much disk space and bandwidth?
    Do you need whmcs

Disk space? Don't think I'll need too much space to start out 30-50gb would be enough for a few websites to get the ball rolling, could always upgrade and get more.

Bandwidth? I think im in the same boat, most the websites will be local, with some optimized for both local and national. I am working on an automation program to get compressed/optimized content on the websites but I dont think that'll hog too much bandwidth.

Do you need whmcs? Always thought WHM and WHMCS where the same but looks like I was wrong after a quick search it might be something im interested in.

yes.. just install nginx after done install mariadb.. setting up.. after done install php7.. and make sure all auto run on reboot( all guide tutorial on DO website )
if everything ok, grab wordpres with curl.. extract.. open u'r url.. follow install instruction.. don't use loot plugins..
if this only blog, just install like caching plugin, don't use any rest link like avatar, make sure you gzip if available with nginx.
if you have money, separate server and db and use cdn.. if you think bandwith, ram and space not enough.. upgrade.. don't use swap space to avoid performance issue..
for me, i don't like GUI or sys manager like cpanel or whm ( from my opinion, they take % my RAM and space )

With this setup, can I run multiple websites on the same droplet?
Also being unmanaged is there a special way to setup backups?
How stable is it? I use 1password for my password vault so all my passwords are super secure.

For multiple, yes.. you can spesify each domain with different folder ( in DO have tutorial how to build 1 droplet for multi domain )
for backup you can use DO feature or using wordpress plugin.. ( for me using plugin is good option )
stability depending how much you use resource, if you host lots domain in 1 droplet with lots plugin.. you will got lots trouble..
i'm not really understand about password... if you mean droplet password, better use ssh key..
