The Man: I?m a 20-year-old dude from Canada and I?ve known about Internet Marketing for about 5 years now, without ever taking any serious action and giving up far too soon when I do take action. I?m sure plenty of you reading this know the feeling all too well. This time I am not giving up early, I won?t be quitting, and I am putting everything I got into this. I will succeed. Not through bursts of emotion or motivation but through relentless day after day, month after month hardcore effort.

This journey post will track my progress day by day and will show what the long term effects of focused and applied time, effort, and energy look like.

The Goal: My goal is to hit $100/day in six months from today: June 17, 2015. From $0/day right now.

The Process: The plan is build out several sites one by one in different niches with varied marketing/monetization plans at a pace of roughly 1 site every 1-2/month(s). Each site will receive a vast amount of attention and will continue to be supported indefinitely after their creation. Here are the websites, traffic generation, and monetization ideas so far (I will be using coded website names to protect the exact identity of my websites and niches, thanks to kinlee for the idea in her journey thread):

    Site #1: Chromosphere

Hobby niche site targeting buying keywords monetized by affiliate links. I?ll be working on this website first.

    Site #2: Cosmic Ray

Adult niche site targeting traffic brought in from tumblr, video sites, and picture sites monetized by affiliate links.

I?ll get into the juicy details for each site in my first update post, so stay tuned!

The Why: I?ve been coasting through life on autopilot up until a few weeks ago, trying to avoid anything that required any effort, trying to find the easy way out of everything. I finally got sick and fed up with the same boring life day after day. I?ve stopped waiting for the world to fall into my lap. I?m responsible for my success and I am finally taking charge. This journey is how I?m documenting my path from the very bottom to the high peaks of success. If nothing else this journey will prove my resolve and determination.

The Motivation: Motivation is something I?ve always struggled with and I?m sure plenty of others have as well. So I?ll be posting how I?m keeping myself motivated and going strong in every update. Starting here:

    Books:
Right now I am reading ?The Willpower Instinct? by Kelly McGonigal. I?m on to chapter three and so far this book has been amazing. It really shows how you can use small amount of willpower to build up a routine that actually helps you improve your willpower over time. So far I?ve been able to wake up early consistently (one of my worst bad habits ? nothing used to kill a day like waking up at noon?), stick to a full workout schedule, and most importantly work on Internet Marketing every single day. Now to keep these new habits up!

    Quotes:
I can?t imagine a quote that is more relevant to starting Internet Marketing:
"Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm" -Winston Churchill

PS - Had some pictures ready to go for the website code names but I guess my account is too green (understandable) so I'll post those in updates as soon as I can!

    Update December 17, 2014

    Chromosphere

    The Overview
I?ve been researching the best SEO techniques over the past week as well as researching a variety of niches that don?t have too much competition in the SERPs. I think I?ve finally gotten a solid handle on the SEO and I found a decent niche with only light competition so I think it?s a great fit for my new website.

    The Day
    1. Coding my custom Silo structure website using HTML5 and CSS, I?ve barely worked with both of these languages in the past but I?m quickly learning. I?m going for an overall flat website design and I think it looks pretty great so far.
    2. Started writing content for the website, I?ve written just under 1000 words today, which was less than I was hoping for but I?m going to make up for it with at least 3000 words tomorrow!

Coding is at roughly 20% done right now, I should have the entire website up and running by Sunday night.

Content is at roughly 5% done. I should be able to crank out roughly 3000-5000 quality words in a day if I can really focus. So I?m anticipating this to be done by Sunday night as well!

I will continue coding and writing tomorrow. I?ll share some of my long term SEO plans for this website in the next update. Expect to see updates for Cosmic Ray in early January.

The only way to really fail is to stop trying. If you truly try every day, you will achieve success, at some level.

Unfortunately, saying that you won't quit/give up is really easy to do. Actually not giving up is entirely another matter.

Here's to your success OP, by not giving up. I wish you a ton of luck along the way.

Ive spent ages doing the same thing and realising im wasting my time

if you want to improve you have to do things differently for a different result.

every year I say this is the year im going to make something of myself but I never do. Taking action is the most important step

if you focus you will do well :)

A good book you might like is the 4 hour work week it changed my life =)

Good luck on your journey man, I also recommend the book 'Think and grow rich' by Napoleon Hill if you haven't already read it.

Thanks for the kind words! Not giving up is the one thing I am focusing all my energy on.

Absolutely, I've already made more progress and pushed my self further than any of my previous attempts! I know that I can see it through to the end this time. I'll also be checking out that book, thanks for the recommendation.

I've heard good things about it I'l definitely check it out. Thanks!

    Update December 18, 2014

    Chromosphere
    The Day
    1. Continued coding today, learning more and more every day, I should have some tangible web site coding skills after all is said and done!
    2. I wrote the 3000 words I said I would yesterday! I think I can do even more tomorrow.

Coding is at roughly 30% done right now, I should still be able to get it ready for Sunday at this rate, as long as I don?t run into any unforeseen problems!

Content is at roughly 20% done. I?m going to ambitious aim for 5000 words of great content tomorrow, if I can keep up the pace I had today it shouldn?t be a problem!

    The SEO
Now I promised I would share a bit of my SEO strategy in the previous update. This is the first time I?ve actually had a solid SEO plan instead of just wildly flailing links around so any constructive criticism would be much appreciated! (theses were pulled right out of my notes of my research):

    Tier One (HIGHEST QUALITY)
    1. Well built Web 2.0s
    2. Personal PBN (Preferably niche related) (personal as in I build it myself)
    3. High quality PBN (Preferably niche related)
    4. .gov/.edu links (maybe??)
    Tier Two
    1. PBN links (cheap/bulk)
    2. High PR blog comments (cheap/bulk)
    3. Social bookmarks (cheap)
    4. (maybe)High quality web 2.0 (well spun/FCSNetworker ?)
    5. (maybe)GSA SER

I?m not sure if a tier three is worth it I?ve seen plenty of people go both with it and without it in my research.

I?m also planning on doing social media by hand:

? Facebook fan page (daily comments/likes/etc)
    ? Twitter page (daily follows/retweets/etc)
    ? Google plus (daily comments/likes/follows/etc)
    ? LinkedIn (daily whatevers)
? Instagram - Photos of niche

I have a budget of roughly $100-$200 a month which I most likely will be investing in my own personal PBN mentioned above as well as the tier two links. If anyone has any other recommendations on what is worth buying in terms of SEO I?d love to hear it!

    Until tomorrow!

    Update December 19, 2014

    Chromosphere
    The Day
    1. Wasn't able to get any coding done today I'll need to spend some more time on that catching up tomorrow.
    2. I was able to crank out 3500 words, more than yesterday, still short of 5000 but I'll be there in no time.

Coding is at roughly 30% done right now, Sunday launch is happening with or without sleep!

Content is at roughly 35% done. I'm going to be focusing on coding tomorrow so I'll be keeping my goal at 3000 words of content.

    The Launch
I'm planning on getting my website up by Sunday, I'll be adding to my website in sections. Right now I have 8500 words of original handwritten content ready to go, I think that should make for a pretty good base.

I'm building out a silo structure website, which in case anyone doesn't know is a highly targeted on site SEO tactic. It packs all related keywords into unique silos with tight link structure which can basically force Google to see the topic of your website (and therefore your keywords) quite easily. You should be able to find out more about it with a quick search of the forums if you're curious.

The 8500 words is basically enough content for a single silo. Over the next two weeks I should have the content for the next three silos ready and upload. While I'm writing more content next week I'll be beginning my SEO strategy outlined in my previous update. I should be able to create the entire tier one for the first silo in a single week but we'll see how it actually turns out, especially with Christmas coming up. I'm going to try and push my self and see what I can pull off though.

    The Motivation
I'm going to be focusing more on focusing on my work and really getting into the zone. I've been finding that I can work for about 15-20 minutes before I lose focus and I simply can't let that be happening. Tomorrow I'll be taking some extra effort to reduce any time wasted between working on things and try to stay as focused as possible. I've often struggled with fear of success and fear of failure in the past and I obviously haven't fully dealt with it. The two best things I can do is tighten up my routine and try to focus as much as I can on the end goal and the small everyday successes.

Super quick update today: I completed all the base coding for the website, I'm glad I was able to get all that done. I will be launching the base version of the website tomorrow with the 8500 words I've written so far. Big update tomorrow with how all that goes!

    The Launch

I launched my website today! I got my hand on a new domain and new SSD hosting (load time of ~500ms). There are still a couple of bugs in the website and some of the content needs to be updated or written but it's online, that's the big thing. Honestly it's probably the biggest hurdle there is. I am extremely glad I hit my deadline, I almost didn't make it but I pulled through.

I'm very excited to start with SEO this week. It's something I've never really focused on properly so it should be interesting to really get down and dirty with it.

    The Past Week

The past week has been incredibly busy and I was temporary derailed from my work but now I'm back and going harder than ever before. Here's a bit of background on why I haven't posted an update in about a week: my grandpa died last monday which as you can imagine is a bit tough, that along with Christmas really slowed things down to a crawl. After I blew out my daily routine it took me a few days to really snap back out of it and get back into the swing of things.

Well today I got right back into as if I had never even stopped. I got up early, worked out, and worked on my website all day long. Here is what I accomplished today:
    • Created a favicon for the website
    • Added specialized images (royalty free) to a couple pages
    • Created major social media accounts for website
    • Updated website with social media accounts
    • Researched expired domains
    • Loose research of SEO PBN
    • Wrote 2000 words of new content

So today was definitely a huge success in my eyes, especially after the long break that I took. I am planning on doing even more tomorrow:

    • Add google analytics and google webmaster tools to website
    • Redesign parts of the website and add more images
    • Write 2000 words
    • Add posts to all social media accounts
    • Create 3 web 2.0's with 500~ words of content

I'm also planning on starting a Facebook ppc campaign to drive more likes to my page. Same goes for twitter with some niche specific shout outs and maybe some promoted tweets in the upcoming weeks. I'll start this after I've grown the accounts a bit naturally.

    The Motivation
I completed reading "The Willpower Instinct". It had some amazing strategies on how to develop willpower and keep yourself from failing. It's definitely worth a read if you have any willpower struggles. It builds a super solid willpower foundation that you can slowly grow day by day. I have to contribute plenty of my success with actually getting things done so far to this book.

I am now moving on to "Think and Grow Rich", I attempted to read this book a few years ago but just completely forgot about it so picking it up again feels good. I remember really loving the style the book is written in, it just has that quality that those older books have. I'll update with how I'm liking the book as I get further into it (Just finished the first chapter!).

PS- If anyone knows when/how the link/image posting ban for noobies is lifted I'd love to hear it as I am hoping to share my ranking images and some motivation videos I watch in the future.

    The Past Week
It's been one busy day, I worked and worked and worked some more. I still feel like I'm taking far too many breaks through, I'm sure I'll handle those as I get better and better at working long days. Without wasting another minute here is what I accomplished today, every last dirty detail:
    • Installed google analytics and webmaster tools
    • Added 2 new pages to my website
    • Updated the layouts and images of 4 pages
    • Improved the front page of my website and added 200 words of new content
    • Purchased an expired domain with PR of 3 and DA of 12 and PA of 23
    • Got the expired domain set up with new hosting and about 3 pages with a total of 500 words of content
    • Added new content to twitter, facebook, tumbr, and google plus
    • Added 50 follower/friends/whatever to each of the above social accounts along with 2-3 repins/retweets/reblogs/re/re/re
    • Set up a quick test facebook ad campaign to generate some facebook page links, so far I've gotten 6 for $1.50, decent start, I'll be spending all of $6 to continue testing this tomorrow. Gotta start somewhere...
    • Set up 3 new web 2.0's with 200-300 total words of content each so far across 2 pages and 2 posts, along with images and videos.
    • I ended the day by writing 1500 words of new content for the money site.

It's been a pretty long day so I'll make my plan for tomorrow quick:
    • Write 2000 words
    • Update 4 pages on website with better layouts and royalty free images
    • Find and set up another expired domain with content
    • Repeat today's social media set up
    • Create more Web 2.0's
    • Scout some tier one SEO services (high quality stuff only - niche related PBN)

That's the plan for now I might add or change some details tomorrow (i.e. expired domains are entirely hit or miss)

    The Motivation
I didn't get around to reading any of Think and Grow Rich as I was too busy working, which is honestly probably a good thing. If I feel my resolve or willpower weakening or when I find some down time I'll be moving on to the next chapter.

PS: got images working but they are hilarious small, I promise I'll figure this out soon enough.

    The Past Week
Today was a much slower day, I definitely blew out some large portion of my energy yesterday, I will be back to 100% tomorrow for sure. With more time and effort while I keep at this day by day I'm sure I'll be able to sustain a better work pace and work harder and longer every day.

For now this is what I accomplished today:

    • Ordered two different SEO packages for some simple link diversity to accompany the PBN that I'm setting up right now (high quality blog comments and hand made web 2.0's)
    • Purchased two new expired domains one general PR3 with DA/PA of ~40 and one niche specific PR 1 DA/PA of ~20-25. I have these both set up on seperate cheap hosting and will buff up their content for tomorrow.

My plan for tomorrow is to finish off anything I missed today (loads!) so it should be a pretty good day. I still probably won't be able to complete everything as it is New Years! Of course there's nothing wrong with heading into 2015 with a solid work ethic so I'll probably pour 8 or so hours in before I start partying.

Some of you might be curious how my FB like advertising went here is the very simple breakdown:
    Results Cost Reach Total Spend
    15 likes (2 freebies) $.50/like 382 $7.56
All in all it went pretty well, early in the campaign I was seeing a much lower cost per like ~$.25 but it seems my CTR must have dropped dramatically overnight. I received 2 likes from people who must have seen their friends like the page, so I didn't pay for those two. It was defintely a decent way to start off a FB page. My tumblr received 2-3 followers from my follow efforts yesterday, along with 2 twitter followers, and 4 google plus followers. So off to a good start! I imagine doing this daily will pay off big time in a few months.

I'm still not sure if I'll continue the FB like advertising, it's paused for the time being.

That's all for the time being!
