Went to see the movie Inferno, based off the Dan Brown book, yesterday.

I'm a huge Dan Brown fan. Read all the books, enjoyed all the books. I feel like Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons were both very well done movies.

    But Inferno was terrible!

People in the book who were killed were just forgotten about in the movie. Multiple MAIN characters who were fine at the end of the book were killed off in the movie. Large plot holes everywhere.

To top it all off, the book ends with an incredible twist and revelation. That is completely reworked into some action-movie sequence in the movie that is the polar opposite of what happens in the book.

I'm pissed, yo. 3/10, and the three points are simply for the imagery and because Tom Hanks is awesome.

Worse than the end to LOTR: RotK? Before they released the directors cut, with the "proper" book ending?

That felt like a betrayal of epic proportions.

Believe it or not, I've never seen any of the Lord of the Rings or Hobbit movies.

Never saw any of the superhero movies outside of Dark Knight/DKR, Iron Man 1-3, and Deadpool.

Only saw the first three Harry Potter movies. Didn't see Avatar. Only say Titanic for the first time last year. I've only seen the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Didn't see the new Star Wars. Haven't seen any of the Star Trek's.

I'm way out of the loop in terms of modern movies.

I read them when I was seven years old and thought I was a smart hotshot kid. I need to go back and re-read haha.

lol fair enough. I read them when I was a little older than that(not by much) - but I only recently read the Hobbit series.

Also @ your OP, I've only seen Da Vinci Code, haven't seen Angels & Demons(that's the one with the Papal election, right?) yet, but I've read the 3 at some point in time. I know I've got both Angels & Demons and Inferno available.. Maybe I'll watch them in a bit.

I was looking forward to the Lost Symbol being made into a film, the book was quite good and it was based in Washington DC and the Freemasons were one of the main focus points of the film.

Ron Howard decided not to make it into the film and Inferno was the chosen one.

Still waiting to hear from anyone I know who actually enjoyed Inferno.

Going to see if there's a stream of it to see for myself, after I watch the new Jack Reacher movie.

I was pretty psyched for Lost Symbol as well. It would have been like National Treasure on steroids.

Book-wise however, it's still like this in my mind:

Angels and Demons > Inferno > The Da Vinci Code > Lost Symbol

Same reaction back some 20 years ago when I read Carl Sagan's Contact...then saw the Jodie Foster movie. Total disappointment.

Well I'm new here and I've been asking questions about what I don't understand since wednesday. Just trying get along here and learn lots of stuff. And questions help me pretty much, because usually I get answers. Also as I know I can express my ideas in any thread, so I think I'm not spamming. Spamming would be commenting several links not related with subject, or commenting random stuff - and I'm not doing that. So please mind your own business. :) Now if you'll excuse me I'll express my idea about Inferno.

My first impression was that it's very similar to the Da Vinci's code, same main actor - Tom Hanks, so when I've heard about it I thought it would be as interesting as Da Vinci. But after seeing trailer, something was telling me that it wouldn't be a successful project. Finally, when metacritic published the metascore(42) I was sure that it would suck. Actually, the plot is not very bad, in my opinion, Ron Howard as a director was a wrong decision.

I watched Inferno for one reason only: Dante Alighieri.

3/4 of the movie were all right, but when they're looking for the virus, the movie had a turning point and started to get boring.

Maybe I'm wrong, in fact, I've never watched Angels & Demons or The Da Vinci Code, so I really can't say much about this.

But, what I can tell you is, I went to watch " The Accountant " yesterday with my family. I loved it.

All movies based off of books are shitty if you read the books first. I was so pissed off when Disney did The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. They fucking butchered it. And Prince Caspian didn't follow the book's plot at all. Also him being interested in Susan was disgusting; in the book they're fucking related.

I almost never watch movies based off of books I've read. There are a few exceptions; I thoroughly enjoyed LotR and The Count of Monte Cristo. But most of the time, books being made into movies is a huge nope.

I read it somewhere: someone wanted to make a movie based on Game of Thrones book, they contacted with George R. R. Martin but he rejected the offer because he thought the time frame of a movie is too short for this. I think Dan Brown should also follow this.

Angels and demons and da vinci code were also garbage, so this isn't surprising
