This is what happens when you have global friends, you get updates like this.
From what I gathered; she worked 30 straight hours before collapsing into a coma. She excessively consumed COFFEE and ENERGY DRINKS during this time...now I've pulled all nighters frequently in the recent months and had energy drinks/coffee and never want to do that again. EVER. It's like a hangover minus any previous fun.

Having said that, I feel it was mainly the caffeine intake. Unless she's done this regularly and her body finally had it. It's easy to overdo the caffeine since exhaustion brings on the temporary feeling of "pfft I've totally got this".
    Just my thoughts.

I personally not consume any energy drinks or coffee, even if I am pulling an all nighter.
Those drinks didn't add extra energy, but takes whatever energy left in your body and use it for current action, in an unsafe manner.
Our body can be "forced" into an overdrive mode by our brain, in a safe manner.

But if you are very-very tired and still haven't finished the job, a little coffee will help. But don't overdo it.
Water is the most important liquid you must have if you are pulling yourself in an overdrive.
I usually consume up to 1 big jug of water when I am pulling an all nighter.

And for sakes, rest well after pulling an all nighter.

Oh yes, all nighters have got to be worth it, and even then..ehh. Painful.

I don't rely on them either even though I enjoy a cup/can every now and then. I really only use caffeine when I'm prepping to workout and feel "out of it" that day.
At my age I have plenty of energy haha. Heart attacks aren't worth it.

I have done those both in an office setting and while working my own business. 30 hours continuously doesn't sound very hard to do. And I still do those frequently.
