I see people asking here how to evade tax, here's your chance. Indonesia will soon introduce a digital Nomad visa that will allow you stay for 5 years and Tax-free.
The article says "as long as you don't conduct business in Indonesia" therefore you can't have a bank account/business in Indonesia, else it could be considered local biz.

So, you still gotta have a "base" somewhere else to get banking and stuff and you'll still pay taxes.

Having a bank account in Indonesia is not going to be a problem. They can't expect people to live there without having a local bank account. What people can't do on a digital nomad visa is apply for local jobs or own a local business. There's business visa if you want to engage in local business.
None of the countries that introduced digital nomad visas allow you to have a job or conduct local business but you can open a bank account.

Makes zero sense and beats the entire purpose of that digital nomad visa. Countries invite digital nomads to boost their local economy as digital nomads earn from other countries and spend locally. When you're living in Indonesia long term, you automatically become a tax resident there.

Wow that sounds too good! Definitely interested.

What is the avg room rent there for a 2bhk apartment? Anyone knows? :)

This isn't a problem for the IMers mostly. Could be a problem if you are doing something offline.

Around $400/month but i would advice you to rent a house. You can rent a big house for $3000/year.

Pretty cheap indeed. :)

Will check it out, and thanks for the help.

I think this can be a great alternative to Dubai which is incredibly expensive.

This looks promising. But anyone who wants to do this will have to act as soon as they introduce the visa as the demand will be so huge that they'll have to suspend it at some point.

Every digital nomad youtuber talks about Bali. Though they're starting to say Bali is getting expensive. :)

Anyone here currently living in Bali as a digital nomad?
It was overrun before covid and that is why prices were increasing. But the pandemic was kind of a reset. Make your move before they go back to pre-covid levels. But there are other beautiful places in Indonesia apart from Bali.

You have no idea how digital nomad visas work, do you?

Accurate response. As per Indonesia you'll become a tax resident if you stay in Indonesia for more than 183 days in any 12-month period or are present in Indonesia during a tax year and intending to reside in Indonesia.
You'll have to file zero tax in Indonesia and as long as your home country has signed a double tax avoidance treaty with Indonesia, you'll not have to pay any taxes on the money you bring back home from Indonesia whenever you go back.
You CAN open a bank account while on a digital nomad visa, that is how you manage your local expenses. Not allowing you to open a bank account and giving you a 5 year visa is counterproductive. What you're not allowed to do is apply for jobs or open a business. There are work visas and business visas for that.

I've held Estonia's digital nomad visa last year and I was allowed to open a local bank account.

You can rent a 3-4 rooms villa for $1000 per month. Small apartments cost as little as $200 per month.

Great answers and I think for those young enough this is well worth looking at in terms of travelling but also living the nomad life.

Did you see any news about it? Any approx date they'll do it?
my friend just went yesterday to Thailand and in the airport they ask him for vaccine pass + a PCR test check.

so i think this is still mandatory to travel.

What kind of banks are accepted there? Maybe Wise will work?

Wise should work just fine. You'll need local bank account though. Otherwise this is pointless. :)

If you mean wise business account, I doubt that will work. It does not work in India atleast.
