Does it normally take directories a much longer time to be indexed? I've been able to index my other sites fairly easily but it's been longer than a week and my directory still isn't found.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

You need to get approval from the directories first, after that
Need to wait for it to be found by search engines.

Sure it takes longer but think of it like long term investment

I think you might've misinterpreted my question. I started up my OWN directory but it still hasn't been indexed yet. I've used the following to get it indexed: digg, mixx, delicious, pinging, yahoo answers, jumptags, bukisa...

It's been more than 2 weeks now and still my directory cannot be found.

Does your directory already have a lot of links on it? Sometimes Google can be suspicious of new sites with a lot of outbound links.. try and balance the ratio.. you can usually get links from other directories as well reasonable easily and at least this will be a little on topic.

I know that for myself, I have announced new directories in webmaster forums and they all have been indexed rather quickly.

You could also try some blog comments, links from other directories, a link in the blogroll of a blog you own (if you have one), and link to it from other web 2.0 sites (like Squidoo, Hubpages, etc.)

If you would like a little push for your site, PM me the URL and I would be happy to list it on my directory/PHP Dug network to help you out.

Squelsh, I believe you hit the money on this one... I added like 50 outbound links , stupid of me... do you think I should remove most of them and add a few each day? Or should I just leave it as is and continue link building?

Domquar, appreciate your willingness to help... do you accept adult directories though? Well, not really adult but def. borderline.
