In a socially dedicated era, it's no longer enough to only have a website for your organization. Communication with your target audience is a two way conversation, and if you aren't constantly communicating with your customers, you risk becoming irrelevant. Consumers flock to brands that have a strong, positive social media presence, and it's up to you to control the conversation. Silence is no longer an option. Here is a rundown of the most popular social media platforms and how you can use them to grow your business.

    Facebook

The most popular of all social media platforms, Facebook is a great tool for your business. Start with creating a Facebook Business Fan Page. Customers can then "like" your page to follow updates on your business. Facebook can be used in the following ways to promote your brand:

Post special offers, such as a special coupon or exclusive promotion, at least once a month to the fans that like your page. This encourages brand loyalty and shows your appreciation for repeat customers.

Post polls or ask funny questions. Doing so will engage your audience in conversation. It'll also give you an opportunity to get customer input and feedback on the products and services you offer at no cost to you.

Encourage customers to post pictures of the results of your services or of their favorite products.
Further your conversation with your audience by posting industry-related articles, videos and images.

    Twitter
Twitter is a social media tool that lets you broadcast your updates in real-time across the web. Content on Twitter is much more concise than Facebook, as all tweets must be 140 characters or less. After creating a Twitter account for your business, follow tweeters in your industry or related fields. Many will follow you back in return, which will build a steady base of followers to start out.

Use Twitter to tweet interesting and unusual facts about your business, then drive followers by adding a link to your website.

Send out short tips on how to use your products or services.

Respond and retweet customer's conversations about your products.

Tweet out special deals and promotions you're offering.

Share links to interesting articles related to your business.

    LinkedIn

LinkedIn is the most professional of the leading social media marketing sites. When it comes to engaging in professional dialog with people in similar industries, LinkedIn Groups is the place. Create a LinkedIn page to include background information on your business, as well as post open job positions.

Encourage customers and clients to give your business a recommendation or endorsement on your LinkedIn profile. The more recommendations your have, the more credible your business appears.

Update your profile with links, product reviews, or articles that you're reading.

Search the Answers section of LinkedIn, and look for Questions related to your business or the services you offer. Become an expert in your field by providing answers and advice on these topics.

    YouTube

YouTube is the top place to share video content on the web. Creating video content for your brand can be one of the most powerful marketing tools. Never underestimate the power of sharing video content with your audience.

YouTube allows you to create a channel for your business and regularly add fun and useful videos.

Encourage customers to comment on your videos and share them with others.

One of the most common social media efforts for brands is launching a video contest. This is a simple way to get people talking about your organization and products. Ask customers to create short videos on how they use your product or service and post to YouTube. Have other
customers vote on their favorite and offer a prize or discount to the winner.

Post how-to videos when you launch a new product or service.

The key to social media is knowing who you are trying to reach and what you're trying to promote. First and foremost, build a relationship through open communication with your audience, and then worry about promoting your product. Make sure you have an appointed person within your organization to monitor the conversation. If you aren't addressing consumer questions and feedback, then you're not playing the social media game correctly.

I know you are new here but copying and pasting content is not the way to establish a presence on the site.

One quick google search of the first bullet point shows that you copy and pasted this entire list. The least you could have done was link to the source to give the original authors credit!
