Increase serotonin level inside your brain?

Hi,

I keep searching about the method how to increase my serotonin level inside my brain.
I keep reading about food that contain rich serotonin, for example banana. But end up it's pointless because serotonin in banana cannot be blablabla transfer to the brain due to some "political/complex" issue.

After reading bunch of articles, the conclusion is, you need to eat carbohydrate alone without mix it with protein.

I also found few provider that selling pills to boost your serotonin.

Just go to AMAZON and search for this keyword "5-htp".

Anyone know what's the best brand for boosting serotonin inside my brain?

5-HTP (5-Hydroxytryptophan) is a chemical by-product of the protein building block L-tryptophan. It is also produced commercially from the seeds of an African plant (Griffonia simplicifolia).

5-HTP is used for sleep disorders, depression, anxiety, migraine and tension-type headaches, fibromyalgia, binge eating associated with obesity, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and along with prescription drugs to treat seizure disorder and Parkinson's disease.

How does it work?
5-HTP works in the brain and central nervous system by increasing the production of the chemical serotonin. Serotonin can affect sleep, appetite, temperature, sexual behavior, and pain sensation. Since 5-HTP increases the synthesis of serotonin, it is used for several diseases where serotonin is believed to play an important role including depression, insomnia, obesity, and many other conditions.
 
I doubt 5htp would deliver reasonable results just by itself.

Try working out, meditation, simply going for a walk and lifting your heart rate - each of these will deliver more results than 5htp which is basically another fad (I have been working with the supplements industry for 5+ years).

To be honest, don't do that. Serotonin is often felt as a feeling of being pleased and satisfied, but taking anything to increase it might have long-term consequences.

In my opinion, you should not try to artifically elevate it, but rather do things (like physical training, work you care about etc.) that bring you further in live to create that feeling of satisfaction based on your progress.

However, I'm no biochemist, so my knowledge is very limited, and what I say might very well be wrong. Take it with a grain of salt.

One thing I learned while I was doing sports : don't take bro advice. Bro science sucks.

Go to a nutritionist and pay $ 200 for a visit and solve your problem just once.
