Just making a note of a weird phenomenon I noticed occasionally on accounts.

If I leave an account inactive with no posts & no comments for like 2+ weeks, when I begin making posts again they will have like a nerfed algorithm or something. they will perform consistently around 30% as well as they normally would across every subreddit including user wall posts.

anyone else notice this?

going silent for weeks and then suddenly coming back can trigger spam filters, thats how a lot of bought or hacked accounts act. Try leaving a few normal comments in active subs for a day or two, reach might go back to normal

I thought you meant to put 'nuked' in first read lol

Many platforms do practice this actually. It's an attempt to keep users more interested in the numbers and motivate you to post more.

How many accounts have you tested this on? I usually create accounts and wait 2–3 months before starting to post and build karma, but they still seem to work normally.

Reddit's ranking signals are a black box, so honestly, anyone claiming a fixed inactivity penalty is guessing a bit.

Imo, Reddit reach can vary a lot depending on the subreddit, timing, and early engagement, try compare a few posts before and after inactivity to see if the pattern holds.

Yeah bro, im claiming it. Ive seen and measured the difference. I have observed this 5+ times on different accounts over like the last 2 years. Why do you think I came here to mention it?

yeah i see the same thing on aged accounts that sit idle too long. its not the old posts getting penalized imo, the account just drops into a dormant bucket and gets throttled almost like a fresh acc again. what worked for me is never letting them go fully cold, few upvotes and a comment every couple days keeps them warm and reach stays normal

I've seen the same thing. Leave an account quiet for a couple weeks and the first posts after that feel heavily limited. Performance usually creeps back if stay consistent for a while. Feels like Reddit quietly lowers distribution on dormant accounts until they show regular activity again
