In wordpress under the settings there's the "general" and one of the options is memberships "anyone can register".

What exactly is this? What does it do if it's checked to be on?

Basically you can set your blog up to have 2 options with this.

    1) If it's off.....anyone can see your blog posts/pages etc..

    2) ON you can have "member's only' type posts/pages...where users would have to register on your blog to see certain posts.

    Hopefully that helps. :)

    thefallendevelopment,

Wait so if it's checked "anyone can register" then that means anyone can view my blogs and posts?

But if it's NOT checked on "anyone can register", then that means no one can register, right? If that's the case, how would it make sense because anyone can see my blog anyways.

I think the membership is something else, but I'm not sure. I don't think it has anything to do with who sees your blog or not.

Well....if your wanting to have your blog with a members area where the public cant see it. Then having it checked is the way to go. I'm not sure on setting up the posts/pages to only be viewable for members only..but i'm sure there's a way to do it. If not, there's always some sort of plugin that will.

If your wanting everyone to see everything...then leave it unchecked.

    thefallendevelopment,

    Thanks, and one last question.

Do you know how I would remove the tags part of my page?

thatkush.com if you go there, you'd see that on the right side there's a big tags area, and I don't want that there because the more posts I'd do in the future, then the larger that area will get and it just looks messy.

Do you know how I could remove that area, or set it to private, so it wouldn't show up on my homepage, but search engines can still see it?

    Sure. Goto Appearance -> Widgets

You should see on the far right hand side widgets that are currently activated. Find "Tag Cloud" and click Edit -> Remove then click Save Changes.

If it's not in "Sidebar1" try "Sidebar2" and that should do the trick for ya.

Don't worry....the search engines will still be able to find you. Just grab the All-In-One-SEO pack and your golden.

Unfortunately, there's no sidebar1 or sidebar2 it says I'm not using any widgets. The tag cloud is just there because that's how the pixel theme comes in. Do you know any other way I can remove that or hide it?
