Hey

Im totally new to blogging, Im more of a cpa person, however I have just started blogging, How do I make it so that some of my blog posts from certain categories do not appear on my frontpage??

Thanks

Assuming you are using wordpress
You want to setup a static home page, its not that hard and pretty self explanatory if you go into the Settings module in your wp-admin. Then you can set a location for where you want your blog to be located.

If you can't find it -
There are plenty of tutorials around the internet for setting up static page heavy wordpress site, 'using wordpress as a CMS' is what some label them as. Dependant on the theme you are using, I always try to get my latest blog post or a list of 'Recent Blog Posts' on my homepage.

Hey

thanks for the reply, I already have the site set up, basically I only want my news to appear on the index page, the downloads etc I dont

Any idea how this is done?

You would have the news go on the home page, then you would have the downloads on another page.

Im fairly sure with some themes you can filter on your homepage according to post categories. eg. Eliminate the 'Downloads' category posts from showing up on the homepage.

Its probably easier just to create a static page to list your downloads though.
