I know about PBNs and stuff but I think those are best for sites that have been around for a while and already have some links. If you have a new site which you want to rank, what do you start with before going to PBN type stuff? I don't mean to ask this noob question but really the only thing I've done is SEO sites that already have a link profile and you have fewer rules as to what you can't do.

    1) Good content. It's good for Google and it attracts genuine links.

    2) Imagine there were no search engines at all. Where would you list your site? Odds are, you can get links from many of those places. Genuine niche directories with traffic, etc.
