Okey, everyone is advising everyone here to use Hostgator, dreamhost,... etc but after reading some topics here I came to the conclussion that my purposes I need would get me banned at those hosts.

I'm in search of a cheap host that also allows things like unlimited websites/subdomains/mysql/... (for my blogs) but I'm also in search for a host that would let me run perl scripts 24/7! A host that wouldn't ban me because I'm using some blackhat techniques or a host that would just suspend me without any investigation that my website does something illegal.

The host should have around 500gb-1TB bandwidth a month and around 50-200GB storage. It should allow perl scripts and have most packages installed (LWP::useragent and that kind of things).

The host should also first contact me before suspending my website. So that my website would not be suspended because of some people posting warez on a blog off me.

If someone knows this kind of host, many thanks :)

I may be wrong, but I don't think that you're going to find what you're looking for from a "cheap" web host. Regarding hosts that don't mind the use of blackhat techniques, se0blackhatdotc0m has this to say:

    Code:

Mmm, that sounds logic what the guy tells :p but does maybe anyone know a host (cheap one) that allows running perl scripts 24/7.

Not sure if you will find many hosts (Cheap or not) that 200 GBs of space and a terabyte of transfer and that will meet your other requirements.

Sounds like you should be investing in a dedicated server.

What do you call cheap? For what you seem to be asking for, a couple of hundred
    a month is cheap.

Mmm, cheap is around $5-10 a month, something like hostgator but then you get allowed to use blackhat :p

Well for your specs I don't think you'll find a host that is between $5~10.

For what you are looking for, you want the least expensive VPS hosting that you can find, from a fairly hands off provider. VPS is going to be the cheapest solution that will allow you to run perl 24/7 without getting mad at you.

As far as bandwidth and capacity - well, the reality is that amount is going to cost, and quite a bit. Most inexpensive hosts offer that much, because they know that nobody actually uses it, but the moment that people come close to using it, they tend to get banned.

You might want to think about splitting your tasks up a bit - if you can run most of your perl on a cheap VPS, but use one or more cheap shared hosting accounts as the storage and traffic "gunboats" in your setup, you might be able to approximate what you are looking to accomplish for less than $30 a month, but it will be a bit of a pain to set up.

In terms of getting your host to contact you before they suspend you, I'd try a little social engineering. Open a ticket with your host, and tell them that you have an unscrupulous competitor that has tried to hurt your business by complaining about your accounts. Ask them to flag your account, so that they call you first, in case a complaint comes in, so that you can deal with it immediately.

Most of these hosts don't really care what you do, as long as they don't get in trouble. They just don't have the manpower to contact everyone, though, so they freeze first, and ask questions later. If you get a flag on your account to talk to you, though, they likely will, rather than risk you having a case against them, since you brought it up first.
