I found the site roughly a month ago and after a lot of reading I really want to start getting some work done......so far I have not done much besides make a little money doing article writing but I realize this type of work only has so much potential and not what I want to invest time in. I am not looking to be spoon fed any method but I just want an idea of if where I am headed is an intellegent investment of time and resources. I am not so much seeking a method to make money atm but want to invest in learning how to build and maintain a website and to drive traffic to that website through different methods so that I can eventually promote this as a service offline and online. I am not sure where to begin, I am considering starting by building what will eventually be my business website, kind of an SEO service site.....after I Know how to build and maintain something professional I will start learning more about how to drive traffic to websites through many different methods, once I feel my skill is up to par I will start offering these skills to clients offline to make some money and build a portfolio, I hope to give back to the community by bringing in a lot of work to be outsourced and skills of my own. If somebody who has been in the game for much longer and is making money reads this and gives me some input I will be very happy, I know there is extremely valuable knowledge and people around here and hope that I can get some direction from them, thanks so much in advance.

First, forget the money. Second, don't buy anything to learn. The best investment you can do is, doin' it. By doing it, you will learn. When you learn, you know, you can create value.

It's about creating value online. You can write well, guess what.. 90% of internet marketing = writing. Content is king.

Find your niche, get a website, write useful content, get traffic, make money. And you will fail, learn, and succeed.

    Quick money: providing a service

    You didn't actually post anything.

Your idea is to build a service site, get directed traffic, make money, give back.

That is a good idea, probably because it's what just about everyone with long term success does. It's saying you build a brick wall brick-by-brick: Of course you do.

Now, you have a very basic blueprint, but what will make you succeed? Figure that out.

Please read your post again. You kept going hovering hither and thither. If you carefully read your post, then you may find that you're aware of all the things which might help you succeed but still you're here asking for tips and suggestions.

My suggestion would be to continue with the research work. Acquire knowledge as much as you can and once you're confident of something, then jump into the fray and start making money. Friend, a majority of things are out there front of you but you turn a blind eye. That's not how things are done.

    Cheers :)

Yeah his post was meandering, so what? It's the Lounge. He has vague and unfocused desires and is looking for clarity, guidance and some direction. I like popping pimples just as much as the next guy, but this OP is no pimple, so be nice and helpful like you all are supposed to, otherwise karma is going to come around and hit you in the face with a 20 lb. sledgehammer. And then pee on your corpse, while your own mother stands next to your decomposing body and laughs and laughs and laughs.

OP, I'd recommend a couple of things. First, don't take any of the hazing too personally. Sometimes you get hazed because people are assholes, and sometimes you get hazed because you are a dumbass. The whole point is learning, and if you accomplish that, nothing else means a damn thing.

Second, I'd recommend spending time reading the forum, and make a point of asking intelligent questions. Not only do you occasionally get rewarded with intelligent answers, and also others derive the benefit of that knowledge, but people naturally have a tendency to like people that ask thoughtful questions, just like they have a tendency to dislike people that ask stupid question.

    Q: What's a stupid question?
A: "What's the difference between White Hat and Black Hat SEO?"

It's been asked so many times, all it does is piss people off when someone posts it, AGAIN. It also sends the message that a newb would rather post a question for the 1000th time than spend 2 minutes using the search feature. Most of SEO is self-taught and self-research, so demonstrating your ability to self-motivate and self-learn earns you points with people.

From an objective perspective: you can't even provide what you're selling. Even if you outsource you don't know the market well enough to know who/what you're outsourcing to. Your business model is flawed and unoriginal. People like you help to saturate and devalue the SEO market.

Perhaps you should work on your own site first. Just a thought. You'll be able to offer a more refined service should you need to, and your own sites to manage (and potentially create value from) will keep you on your toes.

I assure you I will not saturate or devalue anything, my intention is to create value and bring value through my ideas and work.
