I have a good amount of knowledge in SEO already, but a lot of my 'tactics' I assume now are probably outdated. I am looking for some good books, videos etc on everything to do with SEO.

Even basic topics like:
- keyword research
- on-page optimisation
etc etc

It's been too long so I just want to start from the bottom. I was looking at the Bulletproof local SEO course by Stephen Floyd, but I don't want to spend any money at the moment cause i've left my current job and don't wanna piss away money.

Can anyone help me with some good, upto date resources for the whole SEO spectrum.

cheers!

BHW is a place where you can find all the information about SEO. There are 'n' number of threads here discussing about the topics you stated above.

Just USE the search button to find more informative threads.

Good Luck.

As I mentioned, I'm looking for full-blown resources that start with the basics and end with the more upto date advanced SEO. I'm not looking for bits of information posted by users here.

BHW is enough for basic refresher really. There are numerous threads and newer ones coming up daily. Get started and fire specific questions.

The best way of catching up is to read this forum, particularly posts by phpbuilt and other jnr vips who do post good stuff. (Just dive right in and read TBH) phpbuilt did a post on here about authority websites - a very good read and still useful to this day. There's also a very recent thread where a few jnr vips are working together to build an authority website. Even early on there's some gems in there about how they scout for possible website ideas.

What I would warn you against is reading SEO blogs. A guy called Matthew Woodward created this BS blog with completely hopeless SEO advice and it's now become a right of passage for new affiliates to build an "SEO Expert Blog" and plaster it in aff links for everything. I'm guessing you were an SEO / affiliate way back in the day, remember when everyone built a shopping directory? Well, these SEO blogs are now kinda like that really.

The main issue is non of these self confessed guru types have ever actually ranked a site. I've even spotted one or two ripping stats pages and reports off other guru styles sites to bulk out their "amazing in depth guides". Just don't even go there buddy!!!

Just read this forum. Find the Jnr vips who appear to have something interesting to say and read their back posts. It's in those back posts and reading between the lines that you'll find those nuggets of info that are genuinely useful. Have a search via Google on here for "payday loans matt cutts" and read an amazing thread, then read between the lines. One guy on here was heavily into the technique and although sadly the technique is now dead but when it was live there was a whole SERP (payday loans - Google UK) that was full of interesting websites to pick apart and understand how the whole "link juice" thing worked in practice.

When you start connecting the dots you'll begin to learn stuff that's amazingly technical and if you're interested in SEO you'll find yourself deep in the rabbit hole! There's also a really interesting thread on here about Viral Nova and how they used viral content on Facebook as a traffic arb to drive huge traffic numbers and revenue. Again, this technique have since changed (Facebook made it harder to reach without Boosting) but it's an amazing insight into how these guys discover loopholes and build plans to exploit them for profit.

I would definitely save up for jnr vip status and get chatting to these guys too. The mindset some of them have is wonderful and totally profit orientated! No BS "hey sign up for my newsletter" just people who are genuinely at the top of their game and quite happy to share ideas.

Best way is to read lots of threads, journeys & Case studies at blackhatworld. You will learn better here as compared to any vids or books.

Read the "please read" threads in SEO section!
The ones with the topics that have nothing to do with what I asked lol? Why do people continue to post just for the sake of posting.

Thank you for actually taking the time to provide me with useful information.

In regard to the blog thing, I think I kind of subconsciously already knew that, there is just something about getting SEO information from blogs that never appealed to me. Now I'll def stay clear of them haha.

Excited to read up on these Jnr Member's posts too, great idea, cheers!

I would also recommend reading BHW threads. You can get all the information here itself if you have the patience to read them all. 80% stuff here is garbage but the rest 20% is pure gold. Find the popular threads in various forums. Normally the best threads would also have got good replies. Also make sure to check the IM Journeys forum to get some practical ideas of how to implement stuff for IM.

Regarding the two topics you mentioned,

1. For Keyword research, Semrush and Long Tail Pro are advisable. There are others too but these two are good for a start.

2. On Page Optimization is the same now too as it was in the past. The only change is that you need to possibly make the website mobile friendly and keyword or meta stuffing does not work much anymore. Try to use LSI keywords instead and make the content look a bit more natural and high quality.

Oi, mate.

Here is what you gotta know

1. On-page SEO done properly. Just do the title to look natural but to contain all the KWs you need. Spread few KWs around the article body and just keep everything sweet and simple.
2. Off-page done properly. Build a combo of strong home page links on real sites and in-article links. This is if you are in for a long run

Stay under the radar and dont interlink your PBN sites (if you have any). If you dont have PBn sites contact bloggers that are not spammed with crappy sidebar links. Bribe them. Buy all, image links, text links, widgets...doesnt matter. If you have budget buy them all.

You see, that was simple, right?
