    Hi people,

BHW is pretty much the first place I go to looking for help/answers regarding anything that involves money making online. Most members here are amazing and help a lot. I am here yet again with a dilemma I am in regarding two sites that I have. I am not really an IMer like you people. I just have a forum where I sell ads to make some money.

The two sites that I am talking about, lets call them domain1 (my already established site) and domain2 (the new site I started). Both are forums.

Domain1 forum and domain2 forum have somewhat related niche.

Domain1 forum is established and making me money. Whereas, I just purchased domain2.com (just the domain) and have put up a forum there. Domain2.com was a ranked domain with a blog that's why I purchased it and I deleted the blog and put a forum there. According to my expectation, domain2.com should have been getting a lot of traffic as it has a few ranked keywords but I was wrong. The sites above domain2.com in Google are official sites of the niche so they are taking about 98% of all the search traffic. But it still gets some traffic.

Now the issue is that I am having a really hard time getting the domain2 forum populated. I see two options; (1) keep working on domain2 forum and try to build it OR (2) merge domain2 forum with domain1 forum and redirect domain2 URL to domain1. This will give a little bit of boost to domain1 forum and since its already an established forum most new visitors coming from domain2 MIGHT be tempted to join. But the question is, if I redirect domain2 to domain1, will domain1 take domain2's rankings in Google? If not, then there is no point of doing this.

What do you all advise me to do?

Was domain 2 the same niche you want the forum to be in?

Could you recreate the old content on domain 2, and create the forum at domain2.com/forum?

If you redirect domain 2 to a page on domain 1 that is the exact same content then it will probably replace it in the serps, but may rank better or worse, if domain 1 has more authority then I would say it would rank better.

If domain2 is close enough to the niche of domain1, simply merge the 2 into domain1. You already have something that's working, just keep adding to it.
