    Hey all :)

So, I've recently built my first website, lets call it buysomethings.c*m. Now, my keyword is really "buy something" and not "buy somethings" . I've discovered that I rank #1 for "buy somethings" but I'm not in the 1000 first results for "buy something", even though my entire site is built around "buy something". All SEO (not very much to this day, but I'm working on it) I've done is optimised for this. My site gets an A+ ranking in Traffic Travis 3.0 for that keyword.

So naturally I wonder, would I have ranked much higher using the domain name buysomething.c*m instead of the one I use now? How does Google favour domain name with exact keyword matches, instead of an s on the end for example? Is there endings more favourable to Google, such as buysomething101.c*m or buy**something2k.c*m?

In my opinion a good method is to grab all related domains...for example
    buy-something.cxm
    buy-somethings.cxm
and anything you think is good...

then use SEO on all of them and soon you will know which places better for your keyword/s.

In your case try to build some/many links (building many links is always better xexe).

    Hope I helped a bit...

What's your primary anchor text for backlinks?

I had a similar issue recently, (example)
I was using www.superbowlxxvii.com, but I was trying to rank for superbowlxxvi.com

At first i couldnt TOUCH the later keyword, but after buildng up backlinks properly I popped up on page 3

It would be a good idea to register both domains and optimize for plural. Then you would 301 redirect singular domain to plural. Or you could rewrite content and create second website all same except it would target singular so you in total will have 2 websites - singular and plural.

you can see many domains without the keyword on domain ranking on top. Although keyword domains plays a major role in serp, its just only one part and you can be on top if you are building your backlinks strong.

agree with the above poster, keywords are of strong importance, however backlinks and a good linking strategy as nearly as important

I think all of us agree that backlinks are a must, but I have found that the exact keyword in the domain allows you to compensate for a smaller backlink campaign.

does it really matter? so You are suggesting to always buy domains based on exact keywords You would like to position?
