I get quite a bit of traffic from G image searches. But my adsense earnings are total crap. Is this normal?

I dont rank highly for any good keywords at the moment (normal search results) as I've not started any link building yet.

But I have very little motivation at the moment to build links and traffic to the site as the current traffic (around 800 - 1000 unique a day all from image search) is not converting to clicks that well.

my CTR is around 0.25% and the CPC is 20p.

Will proper traffic i.e. serp traffic and traffic from other sources like FB, tumblr etc help increase the CTR at least?

p.s. its an image based site. Not a buying niche and the only way I monitise is via adsense.

Hello, try to experiment with pinterest, pinterest users stay too long on sites that they are interested and tend to click more than other users, start following pinterest users in your niche and liking, repining their posts, remember to create your Pinterest account on your website's name. The pinterest traffic on my site spends an average of 40 minutes on it, my site is an automotive news site, with original content.

There have been days that I open Google analytics in the early hours of the day and I see that 80% of my traffic, is from pinterest and also I see that my adsense already has some clicks, so it has to be the pinterest users clicking. You may also want to experiment with the ad positions, install clicktale and monitor the visitors mouse movements as well, and until where they scroll on the page, there might be ads that they are not even seeing.

You can't ezpect image traffic to generate as much adeense clicks as keywords searches.

I have never tried statcounter, might as well give it a try. All the traffic I get from Pinterest comes from other people repinning my posts and maybe the homepage of the people that follow me, I always try to find the image that would be the most appealing to automotive enthusiasts and I always make sure that the dimensions of the image are the biggest my theme allows. I currently use Wordpress and the travelify theme, with modified css.

G image traffic is not as high quality as organic taffic (not nearly as much), but if you have much traffic look for a script that will redirect to the post of the image when someone wants to see the actual image.
