So I am setting up a friend with wordpress for his domain. He currently uses Godaddy website tonite

I want to host his web pages on my server (I have a hostwindsvps) and have the people in his office be able to read their email just like they do now.

They "use outlook" is more or less all I can get out of them. Their domain is registered with godaddy and this is what it says under godaddy under DNS

    A @ 208.109.14.128 A portal 75.147.xx.xxx CNAME email portal.theirdomain.net CNAME ftp @ CNAME imap imap.secureserver.net MX @ portal.theirdomain.net MX @ smtp.secureserver.net
I own 50 domains for like.. 6 years now and have never actually set up email before. I always just create a catchall email forwarded to my gmail address any help here is appreciated

    Mike

Signup for Google apps. Change the MX entries to what they say.

Open Outlook. Add the email and password, and outlook will automatically fetch the incoming and outgoing servers. Its all just reading emails now :D

Thats the best thing to do.

Im not getting why I would need an additional service like Google Aps.
I am starting to think that the ip that starts 75 is their IP and that they have microsoft exchange or something running the outlook.

I think when you send them an email.. go daddy routes it to that IP.

Now how do I do the same thing on my cpanel?

Google Apps is the easiest to work with, and IMO its free too.

But if you want to go directly with the CPANEL to Outlook, watch this, as this might help you :

    Thanks.

Ya I actually watched that earlier.. it doesnt help me in my specific situation thanks. Godaddy confirms to me that they have no email accounts set up with them. It would seem that I am correct in my assumption that they have their own mail server running outlook but they can't tell me how and no one else can seem to either.

That local IP i listed in my OP comes back to comcast business class IP address.
