I want to quit my seo job and work for myself. I am tired of having a boss. I think following orders doesnt sit well with humans.

My side projects are not making enough money but I think that if I focus 100% on them (without a job) I could achieve it.

But also maybe If I quit I will be too worried about money and wont be able to work properly.

Did someone quit their jobs without a safety net? I need advice. It's a well paying job btw, but not amazing.

Working on the side while having a job its almost impossible, i cant focus / dont have energy / time after the 9 to 6

Self achievement comes with risk, humans need risk to feel alive

I have 3 years of seo experience, I think its time to out all my knowledge in action

Looking forward to hearing your experiences :)

Thanks in advance

If you have enough savings that can survive you for 1 year and have some to invest in new business then Go For IT.
Leave the job and start your own SEO Business. Develop your own site and work on it.

I would never recommend leaving your job because you don't know how hard it can be to struggle through your own projects when you can't earn good money. Take this advice from this self-employed blogger with 8 years of experience. There were times when I wanted a job and will still be down for one because the problems I face are not easy to handle.

Even if you have enough money for 1 year and solid plan for own projects from A to Z its still extremely difficult, agree with @sarfrazk9

I don't want to sound pessimistic but now it's not the best time to quit the job. Maybe the problem isn't the job but feeling unhappy in general.

I have been on both sides, most of the time I worked for myself which is more fulfilling but harder and more stressful, especially in the beginning. But even when I was working at a job, I always had side projects. But I only work about 4 hours in my job, so I have time and energy for my own projects too. Try to work less, or work on your side projects during work.

Once you've saved up the money to get you through for a while, quit your job to focus on your own projects. Take risks so you can take bigger steps. :)

Quitting without having a safety net is a big no from me. You're right, you'll definitely be too busy stressing about money to do quality work that'll get the results you want. In my eyes you have two options. Work on your projects in your free time until they begin to bring in enough income to get close to replacing your main source of income. The other second option is to continue working at your job until you save up at least a years worth of expenses.

You need to invest part of your income at speeding up your projects if you believe in them so much. There are talented freelancers for $3 an hour that can help you with creating content using chat gpt, graphic designs, professional video, etc etc. Your income is your best friend. You need money to make money faster.

Well, most said to build up reserve before quitting. I am going to suggest on opposite spectrum. I suggest you quit your job now if you are not happy. Once you are on your own, your mind will find ways to earn more than you are earning now. Desperate times, desperate measures. Good luck!

I wouldn't quit. First start making money with your projects. Then save up to around 6 months worth of salary. Then quit. Any other way and you're setting yourself up for a harsh reality.

I understand that working for someone else within an schedule can't be sometimes stressfull and much more when you don't like the job! Sometimes we have to work in someone we don't like to have the life we aspire... I advice to keep your work and try to work in a team, you are not alone, use the money you'r earning and invest it well, if you don't have time use someone's else time and pay him/her, it's part of the invest, do that until you can quit your job and live from your own business

Did someone quit their jobs without a safety net?
No, I didn't choose that way instead I kept working both ways job and the side hustle.
It was tiring for me as I could afford 3-4 hours of sleep then.
I did this for 4 years and then found my way to quit job forever.

I would even advice you against quitting with cash backup because cash is volatile thing and you never know how much time online money making will take to put you through success.

Start small with what little extra time you have left daily. Don't rush on making such big decision.

I recently quit my day job after 10 long years. But I made my decision when my online income surpassed my day job revenue.

Think twice before leaving your job, but if you're confident about your success in the next few months and if you have savings to survive for the next few months. Then go for it.

May the odds be on your favor :)

Plan it well ,
So start working on weekends on your gigs, you ll have to do both for some time. Once your gig startes paying you more then your salary you can leave the job.
But don't leave job unless you have atleast 6 months of backing.freelance Work gets seasonal too , you won't find much clients or freelancers during holiday season. So keep yourself well informed. Then make this decision. Good luck
