I have this idea in my mind since long time, this is none English language website, and since (my local language) contents on the web
still considered poor, I'm thinking to create Wikipedia like website but targeting single niche,
What made me thinking on this project is I'm seeing some English words ( products/brands names ) search results shown, pages with with non eng contents (local language),
In pre penguin and other G crazy update I was able (relatively easy) rank on these Eng / local KW's but after 2013/2014 updates that's becomes even harder with each new update (Like google considered none English results as spam)
Is this happened to you too or it limited to certain regions (e.g where Eng not that popular)

The state of non-English websites are spammy is completely wrong,
There are authority foreign websites that do rank and bring a ton of traffic for years,
The thing is, Foreign language pages do have much less chance of appearing in the English SERPs which is the same case for English with the Foreign languages SERPs and that do totally makes sense,
If a user does a search for a french keyword with French in the search options, it totally makes sense to get French pages SERPs

No it's more like Eng word in French preferred language in google settings,
Even most of my reading in the internet are in English, but I still use my local language in Google page settings, Google always shows to me English websites in top 10 at least
When I was targeting these Eng KW's(2012-214) other ppl in my region did not pay attention to it, and they bring me tons of traffics,
But exactly after ~2014 updates, Google (at least in my region) wipeout these websites from the SERP
BTW I know when Google considered certain pages as Spammy contents or not, I did multiple tests/tries, even I studied my competitions ranking, they all went down in the same time period,
But recent months or I start seeing some websites popup in the SERP competing Eng websites, but not too much.

It's pretty normal for google to show English results if you do search for English keywords, even with French in settings,
You'll get the same if you do search for something in French while using English as your preferred language,
Targetting French keywords will do give you the desired results and it has never been treated as spam, not logically & will never be,
The update could be more related to showing specific language results to the search term other than considering the foreign websites/content as spam

A Wikipedia-like website is going to take a lot of work, but it's doable.

I've worked on Wiki rewrites where we took a whole section of Wikia and rewrote it.

Let me tell you, it works.

But you have to put in the time.

Also, you have to fight the right battles.

Because depending on the niche you're in, going the Wiki route can be very expensive and time-consuming.

As you know, Wiki can be an inch-wide but miles deep.

Are you willing to do that?

I suggest that you focus first on prioritization because not all content that fits within a deep thematic vertical is worth pursuing, at least not in the first few months.

They're not likely to make you much money, but they take up a lot of your resources and time.

So prioritization ahead of time can go a long way.

How are you going to prioritize?

I say do an 80/20 mix of informative keywords and commercial keywords.

You have to have the commercial keywords in the mix because somebody's got to pay for your project.

Establish the informational stuff first so that your domain authority goes up enough for you to have a decent chance of ranking for the commercial stuff.

Once the money starts rolling in, reinvest it in more content using the 80/20 mix.

You will start stomping your competitors before you know it because of your keyword targets and regular content using a tight structure.

I think you're on the right path.

You only have to be aware of how much time, effort, and resources it takes.

Thanks for your reply, i already study this project before, It's like this I really don't know how could my informative website will take attention of Google algorithm or even Google contents quality team
I know this time consuming and expensive project, but I want it as long run investment, I say people doing even more ventures with bigger budget and they waited a year or so to see any results .
Honesty I get enough from fast an unreliable results .
