I know that CORRECT information is the most valuable asset in all of SEO. After all internet marketing has become a giant riddled with inaccurate information, ever changing rules, and misguided information. It may be deliberate or the nature of this game but it fucks up your decision making skills. I'm looking for a mentor of sorts, an SEO out there who has managed to rank niche sites on page 1 more than once and made money from it. I will pay $50 for an hour long skype session in which I can ask questions, and you can answer. Or you can look at my current niche site (just 1) and spot what is right and wrong.

Because experience is the most valuable thing.... knowing what is important and when. Right now i'm stuck in perpetual failure after constant testing emd vs brand names, backlins vs content quality, does relevancy matter, PBNs, key word densities, does silo structure really matter, best sources of traffic, pitfalls to watch for in ranking (such as canonicalization), it could take me thousands of dollars more to make money like this, its really frustrating now. So its much cheaper and better for me in the long run to get some consulting done. I imagine this in itself is a good business going into the future, because of the number of new Internet marketers and the amount of confusion.

If anyone is interested, then let me know.

Don't spend dollars in learning. Just experiment and test.. experience is the greatest teacher mate.. you have all the information in this forum..

I agree that experimenting and testing yourself is probably best. I'd say the odds are, you'll pay someone money for help, and then expect some kind of magical results right away. Proper SEO doesn't happen overnight and depending on your niche, it could take months to achieve real results. If you're up for paying someone for good/useful information, and then waiting 2-3 months to see if your results come through, than go ahead. Don't expect to pay an SEO guru $50 and then be on page 1 next week...Don't get mad at them when they help you and you don't see results right away.

I would echo what these guys say. I learned a lot from just testing and doing and found a lot of what people said online was just regurgitated ... and twisted ... and then out of date.

Exactly. So what have you guys found in terms of:

- number and quality of backlinks needed for ranking well in your niche
- effect of using social media (if any)
- choice of domain (emd vs brand vs other?)
- time it takes for website to rank
- amount of content and frequency of update
